I'm going over a short list of what I would pack along and before you say space or weight i've considered that. In thinking I ask why no spare alternator would bolt in the inner hub of the spare tire rim for starters. Seems a bit strange that there would be no spare i'm thinking there is a spare battery ...right?

they have 2 batteries they can switch between , and thats what they were doing.
They were "alternating" between the two! Made it 120KM before the juice ran out.
Parts were in BJ's hummer and they would have gotten there quicker if BJ hadn't had trouble too. It was a tough stage! Live to fight another day..
caca happens!
there is a reason that Hindsight 20/20 is the easiest sport in the world.
Exactly, If Robby breaks a control arm are we going to hear: :"A control arm would fit perfectly behind the driver's seats, why didn't they think about this before hand." Let's be realistic, shit breaks, You can't account for everything and Luck has A LOT to do with winning this Rally. If RGs alternator would have failed w/ 100km to go he would have made it.
No, no....a control arm would not fit behind the drivers seat, no room....just have Andy hold it between his knees while he holds a spare alternator between his feet. He is just along for the ride anyways, right....seeing the Chile countryside eating grapes while Rob turns that round thing in front of him back and forth and pushes that eco-friendly low emission gas pedal on the right through the floor!
Right next to talking out ones rear, and Monday Morning Quarterbacking. I never made it to the pros in any of them, but I was on a pretty good intramural team in college.
wasn't the alternator overheating when they stopped to fill up before the rally started. (when andy told robby it was hot, and he asked if it was on fire?)
Check one of the earlier videos.
yeah, i'm wrong.. sorry...f-ed up on another saturyda noght!!. gas on!!
I think there was an Alt problem before stage 1. I do remember Robby in a video talking about swapping it.
Next year the roof will be a 275 watt solar panel. No power robbing alternator.

It will make the green lovers less mad at Hummer too....LOL
