The entry list is up and Robby Gordon is listed as start position seven. Now I started this discussion to just get some ideas and predictions before the race. I'll kick it off by noting that the race course is the same as last year. Considering this, the teams that ran the race last year are going to have an advantage. It's not like Robby has never ran there before and that he has no chance. I think he has a great chance and and I hope he does well (I mean if he does well, then I get to see him at Primm). I just thought that might be a little food for thought.

No I did not know & would have never posted it had I known. I won't make the mistake again & out of respect to everyone here & most importantly TOG, that reference is DELETED.
Hogwash......that whole article is nothing but Hogwash. Anyone that has been around off-road knows that the Gordons and DeAngelo's have been very close personal friends for decades. That alone disqualifies anything else MO would say.
If the section RG went off is the same section I think it is then I would say it is legal. The last year they raced in San Felipe which was 2 years ago? Anyways we were prerunning as I always do the second half and that bottm section would be mine. There is a small "Goat trail" that you can see some of the bike guys use to cut off a corner. It is not a true drop off like you think. It is steep, but you can roll down it. At the top it is hard to see and find the exact spot to drop off. If you miss it by two feet you could crash or go end over end.

Anyways we stopped and looked at in in my Baja Bug Prerunner and decided to try to drive down it. I was able to do so, but that was starting from a dead stop and going down knowing exactly where it is. I figured it would get more worn in by race day, and when we come threw in the race car I would see tracks and know where to drop off at speed. We makerd the GPS too.

Come race day we get to that section and my navigator tells me the short cut is coming up. As we approch at 15-20mph I dont see a for sure line going off and I ditch the drop off and followed the main course line. As we are coming back on the lower line in the wash after the dog leg you could see the trial coming down the hill and it did not look any more used up then when we saw it prerunning. I think the reason the car guys dont use the line is for one it is very hard to read when approching at speed and if you miss it you will end up on your lid or you could hit some rocks on the way down. Also the line is narrow and all the fast classes like TT and class1 cars might be to wide to really use that line. Only the slower more limited classes might be able to use the line, but the other problem is you drop into the wash and with no momentum its hard to come to the bottom and make a hard left into the wash, trying not to get burried in the sand. With the limited VW classes momentum is key and sometimes the shorter line is not alwasy the faster one.
i agree on that, i drove that section at last year baja 250, i ran in a class 3 vehicle, i arrive that part and saw that shortcut and i want it to take that way but my co drive wont let me, he made me take the gps way, we don't prerun the course so i toke the gps way but once down there i realyze that that way was ok to go,. but well, i posted a google earth map of that area to show where that could happen,

I knew it was the bike line as soon as you said 10' cliff. Big Deal.....he saved maybe 200 yds. That is nothing in the desert. No Foul.
that's exactly what i meant, no foul if it was there. there are no left and right signals down there, and to follow the gps is not mandatory, right?
For those who dont believe me about the sack of shit Mike Overcast and his lame website are, here is a link to RDC where once again MO took someones post on RDC and changed it to fit his agenda. A guy named Bob Bowers is a off road video photographer and also works for a very well know engine shop. Bob posted a congratulations post about the Wilson's class 1 win and MO decided to take that and add that the Wilson car hit and killed a guy. At this point there has been nothing official about the Wilson's hitting a guy and there is after the fact footage that shows that a guy was hit, but the TT's were coming threw that area and not class 1 cars.

Oh one more thing there was a guy who was with the COPS TV show class 1 race team and he was filming and when he turned his back to the course another class 1 car lost it in the dust and did hit this guy. This guy was thrown in the air 20ft. There just happen to be medics on the scene and they were able to stableize him and called for air support. The guy was flown to San Diego where he went threw a bunch of test to find his has a major concussion and some bruising, but no broken bones and he was sent home yesterday. They did verify the car that hit this guy and it too was not Wilson's. This guy admits it was his fault for being to close to the course and he is grateful to be alive. You can also read this guys story on RDC.

Now once again, MO probably took parts of many different stories and made one story that fit his agenda the best. He posts without facts or regards for who he is talking about. Can you imagine being part of the Wilson, team and hearing these lies and stories about you or your team? Can you imagine your family at home getting this false news and not knowing if your ok or if your team is ok?
wow. thanks for the heads up. What a clown.
Bill,
I want to take the time and congratulate all of you who were working the airwaves on Saturday. I'll have you know it was the first nice "springlike" day we have had this year and I was outside doing yard work. I drug out my laptop, hooked up a speaker and listened to all of you for hours. We live in a small village that gets a ton of weekend tourist foot traffic visiting our Galleries and Antique stores, and what I call Yankee Doodle Dandy homes. You should have seen the look on some of the peoples faces when they were walking by and heard what was being broadcast. No one had a clue it was a race 3000+ miles away!

Again nice job.....I'm sure Bob is very proud of all of you.
i really hope this comes out okay.
It looks like all is good and Robby will be keeping the 2nd place finish.
Does anyone know what the updated points post San Filepe are.
