Thanks Mike - I was just throwing that out there. I believe it may get rid of a few, but S&P needs rules of some sort or NASCAR needs to change rules so that more than just 12 or 15 cars can win a race. By the way, it was good to see Ambrose win this weekend and he probably is one of those cars outside those 15 top.

Ambrose needed that win,IMO. They where one of the few that cover'd expenses on the weekend. So,should we have a water/oil truck to help liven up every show?

There's a reason Cup cars don't race in the rain. NASCAR doesn't want anything out of their control to screw up the status-quo between the haves and have-nots.

I think Robby mentioned something about having sponsorship for the Daytona 500 next season, but I could be mistaken.

Bryan, I take it you've never been to Crandon, or another O-R event? I hadn't, until TORC came to town last month. That's got me considering the 5 1/2hr drive to Crandon form Joliet. You've got a 2hr head start on me, & don't think it's worth it? Buddy, I'd reconsider if I were you.
As for the dirt, I don't think it's about the purse there for RG. Brand expansion for SPEED is more like it. The amount of people exposed to the product, for the dollar is ridiculous compared to nascar. Look at the pics from baja, if you doubt me. Especially the souvy trailer crowds. Also, unless RG gets in, & SPEED gets on an HMS, Yates, or RCR ride...how much are we gonna see him/it anyway? A good chunk of the prime TV time RG gets in nascar is by coincedence. Pack shots & such that WE recognize the 7 car. How good is that vs...a whole new continent (Dakar) being exposed to the product? Oh, & there's that worldwide DAILY, HIGHLIGHTED tv exposure, with close up's, name recognition, & so on.
See my point?

Nailed it. The U.S. is only 4.5% of the world's population. NASCAR is a big fish in a small pond. Dakar coverage is global. Ask people in Europe or South America if they know who Kasey Kahne, Denny Hamlin or Carl Edwards are and they'll shrug their shoulders. Mention Robby Gordon and they'll nod and say, "Ahhh, yes, yes. Hummer!"

Very well said. Robby might be a Gringo, but he is like a national hero in Baja

@Mike - Good strokes - we're looking at the drive up from London Ontario Canada. SST will be a hit and getting up in good ol' Wisconsin is always a nice trip through the UP of Michigan.

These types of venues / events are more grass roots and when you have the chance you need to do it - NOW!

Wow, from Canada through the UP? I'm definitely not the only one considering a lil road trip, eh? That'll be a scenic ride though, UP is beautiful country
