Let's say a fan wants your autograph. What's the best time to approach you at the track? RG: See, that's where I think I do the best job. That's the truth....

I like that, Thanks Alan
good find
NASCAR and the IRL should join up for a grand two week stint at Long Beach. Same course for all series - Indy Lights, IRL, Nationwide, Cup. And throw some stock car drivers into the pro/am celebrity race.
For the races Robby says he can never sell, both Pocono and Martinsville come to mind.
thats a good call.
I was just thinking this morning about how unwatchable Pocono is. I have heard the track is a nightmare to get in and out of as well. No local infrastructure, etc.
Matt, I grew up a Pocono guy. The track is in the middle of nowhere. The closest city is Scranton/Wilkes Barre and the Allentown area. But it is only 2 hours from Philly and less than 2 from NYC so attendance isn't a problem, its the track. The only reason to go is for the party atmosphere. If I wanted to seriously watch a race, I wouldn't waste my time going there, I'd go to Dover to see the whole track. This is why I don't think that Martinsville is such a bad track, I've been there and the racing is great. Robby just has a real hard time there and never figured out that place. He just came from a differnet dicipline of racing.

FYI, Dr. Mattioli, if you ever read these things, will you PLEASE fix the parking situation and the in and out of the track., it gets worse and worse every year.
"I mean, who's going to be up at 9:30 in the morning watching NASCAR races?"
Looks like plenty of us! How many are up at all hours to watch Dakar/Baja?
My californian "live" sports schedual
4 am pacific for me during Dakar
9 am breakfast in bed race day
all hours am summer olympics" China 2008
4:20 am/pm well you know
The fact is if you want to see the damn thing even if you can't see it , ie: dakar / score race tracker
you'll make do.... now I can't guarantee that I'll still be a wake for lap 83 of pocono but with tivo this whole conversation is irrelevant unless your trying to sell soap. You can't please everyone .I used to enjoy beer with my nascar but sometimes bacon and eggs will just have to do...well that and a bloody mary
How long do you see yourself driving?

RG: I'm 41, but I still feel 25 or 30, if that makes sense. I still have a lot of fun with it. At that point it's not fun anymore, I will decide to do something different. Right now, I really enjoy having a race team and it's important for me to continue down that path.
