Dodge Currently has the following teams qualified for the Bud Shootout: #9, #12, #2, #43, #19 & #42.

There's a chance Robby Gordon could benefit from another team's merger. In what most claim is a "done deal" with DEI and Ganassi, if Ganassi does switch their 2 car team (#42 & #41) to Chevy next year. This would move Robby into the #6 position with Dodge.

or if GEM leaves Dodge, it would move Robby into the lineup also.

If both organizations leave Dodge, then Robby would 4th on the lineup for Dodge behind Penske's #2 & #12 and Petty's #43. The #45 would be added along with ??? #49 or next Dodge.

If both teams left it would put in the #77 Sam Hornish ride with RG and the #45 if I'm not mistaken. That would be very nice for RGM if he made the Shootout. I would think it would help with sponsorship opportunities. Not to mention a shot at a win with the plate performance as good as its been.
lets hope this happens. the new format sucks i think. Just look at it. Michael Waltrip will be in and 2 time champ Tony Stewart won't. If the big 3 auto makers leave NASCAR then ho will the field be set? Bet the suits in Daytona are thinking of somethng else stupid.
All indications are all four manufacturers will be back next year, atleast 1 year. If Dodge does leave, it will be after 2009. This will give Nascar a full year to come up with a new plan for the shootout.

Since Coors Light sponsors the pole award and Bud wants to get away from that being part of the equation, they will have to get creative.
My idea: Make it race related...

The Budweiser White Flag Award...the driver that takes the white flag earns a spot in The Shootout, 90% of the time this will be the race winner, but think of how many drivers have came up short, mostly at Daytona & Talladega. This would be a nice consellation prize if it sends you to The Shootout, plus the last 2 laps would be incentive driven now.

Or

The Budweiser Lap 75 Award...The leader of Lap 75 is awarded a spot in The Shootout, why 75? That's how many laps are in The Shootout.
