ROBBY GORDON IS “FIRED-UP” IN SAN DIEGO

Gordon makes an appearance at the San Diego Firehouse World Expo convention

DEERFIELD, Ill. (February 16, 2009) Robby Gordon, NASCAR driver of the No. 7 Jim Beam® Toyota®, is no stranger to firefighters and EMS workers; they watch over him every weekend at the races. This week, before competing in the California NASCAR Sprint Cup Series™ race, Gordon will have an opportunity to show his appreciation when he makes a brief stop at the Firehouse World Expo convention in San Diego, Thursday, February 19.

Gordon’s appearance coincides with Jim Beam’s efforts to help raise awareness for the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund, an organization dedicated to assist firefighters and their families across America. Founded shortly after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund was established in memory of Terry Farrell, a decorated member of Rescue 4/FDNY and Chief of the Dix Hills Volunteer Fire Department. Farrell, along with 342 of his brothers, perished in the World Trade Center attack.

“First responders at some point touch all of our lives,” commented Gordon. “The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund is there to make sure someone is available for firefighters and their families when they need help. I can’t think of a better way to spend an afternoon than in the presence of these brave men and women.”

Jim Beam®, the world’s No. 1-selling bourbon, first formed an association with the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund in 2005 and has recently increased its commitment to help the organization expand its reach on a national level.

“The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund is a tremendous organization.” said Rory Finlay, senior vice president and global chief marketing officer, Beam Global Spirits & Wine, Inc. “We are eager to do all we can to help raise awareness for this hard working group. Robby understands Beam’s pledge and wanted to show his support any way he could.”

Gordon will visit with firefighters and sign autographs from 12-2 p.m., Thursday, February 19, at the San Diego Convention Center.

On a personal note: Robby, this would be a great organization to represent with JB in a paint scheme.
I think a lot of us here would love to see something like the Op. Homefront car.
Not to mention the TV time would be great for all involved...

Oh yeah, kudos for attending,& pluggin the event on your page.
agreed, this is the first time i've ever heard of it. hopefully a race scheme and some tv time would help this great cause.
Also, i constantly amazed at what a genuinely "good" company Jim Beam is. RGM is lucky to have them, and they are lucky to have RGM!
I know I picked up a FDNY JB shirt that they made for a fundraiser. It's gor a 343 FDNY logo with the spotlight towers in the logo. Pretty dope.
So this isn't something new to JB. Thats even cooler to me. They've been sticking with this for a while.
It would be great marketing by JB to do a paint scheme with RG.
Jim Beam has a special edition label - it'd be nice to see it on the hood of the #7:

SWEET, that would look great on the hood,& tv panel
Yeah, it would, wouldn't it? It would get Robby and Jim Beam some TV time too, I would hope. Maybe Robby will announce this in San Diego today?
Agreed! That would look awesome on the car! Thanks Mike for the story and Alan for the label information.
