My Thoughts on the Prelude

I understand Rob was in Mexico and working on this and that so it's really NOT a rant on how I wish he would have been in Ohio or anything, simply what's on my mind. First off it is a charity event and that alone has merits to consider. Maybe there was a donation made, how would I know. I've been wanting to go and see it in person but it seems rather deflated as far as that goes now. To think Robby Gordon is not in the class that's there is a slap in the face offense so.............
When he did go there for the first time I was like, great, and when he returned I was like this is where he belongs ..."with these guys" on "this stage". then I guess sponsorship or what ever got in the way last year and well to be honest i'm kinda bummed out in the fact he was not there again.
I don't know the deal, perhaps it's like it is written and Robs doing the dirt stuff and all and that's that. Perhaps something was said a while back I don't recall to explain it all. Again i'm not trying to rant and don't want to hear some guy from a thousand miles away scream "millionaires like him should be there" or "why don't you sponsor the trip mike". Just saying in the grand scheme of things Robby Gordon should be there. Perhaps I don't get it as they say, it's hard to see what the circus is like when you are in it, and trust me, i'm in one.

I wouldn't be surprised if he made a few donations to some baja charities if that helps you feel any better. Plus maybe he just wanted to drive on a dirt track that was a little bigger.

just a couple of thoughts,maybe Bloomquist's renting cars to whom ever and changing to the team format were factor's.And maybe becouse Robby is self sponsoring right now,now is not the time for that expense.As he just did GlenHelen and Baja500,races that are huge money consumers not producers.IMO

the team format is a gimmick.. it hasn't changed the racing one bit and i bet the majority of the field couldn't even name their "teammates"

It was a great race regardless. Very cool to see all the different drivers all hanging out and wanting to learn. It was awesome watching Kyle fix his ride and trying the low line and watching others just plain struggle. I'm sure Robby will go back in years to come in a sweet bright Orange SpeedEnergy ride. Give it time. Elbows up racing= F'n sweet.

He belongs with those guys? Austin Dillon and Aric Almirola? JJ Yeley and Ricky Carmichael? Kenny Wallace and David Gilliland?

Lets not kid ourselves that this is really still some event that is stacked top to bottom....


If there were retailers in Ohio for his drink then maybe it would make sense for RG to do...lets be honest, the novelty factor of this event has really worn off...

Tony Stewart said they always ask the drivers who raced the year previous whether or not they would like to come back. He said some say they can't because they have commitments or other things happening so they can't, and they try to fill the holes with others.

Guessing Robby couldn't come back because Monster wouldn't sponsor him for the event, so he was replaced with Ricky Carmichael. So wait for Hornaday to not return next year and maybe Bill Elliot, and possibly Danica and Robby will be on the schedule next year.

Im surprised, the Prelude is a HUGE stage and he does incredibly good there. He used to say 'NASCAR pays the bills".

I guess we dont understand the thought that goes into making decisions like that.

I'm not sure how HUGE the pay for view stage was (the numbers will be published soon enough) Memory say's Robby was only there twice,one good show,one bad show.
This wasn't a Na$crap 'Cup' race so it didn't pay.Pure expense to run this event.For all intent and purpose the BAJA500 and GlenHelen Pro2 races where also pure expense,difference between them and the Prelude is Robby owns equipment to run those events.The Prelude,Robby has to rent a car.The year Robby didn't far to well,Robby was not in Bloomquist's A equipment and it show'd IMO
Baja was a better and bigger theater for Speed Energy.It also tie'd in with new mechandisers in Northern Mexico.IMO

Maybe I should have re-worded my comment. For the 2 weeks before and week after its big news. His second place finish gave him a lot of publicity. Now, I have no idea if that publicity leads to any possible future sponsorship dollars, thats the part I guess I dont know.

One things for sure, a good finish at a type of racing he isnt familiar with would bring a lot of new fans... fans who could potentialy buy SPEED!!!
