Multi Sponsorship Packages needed for NASCAR teams
When you look back at NASCAR 10 years ago teams & drivers could easily be identified by their sponsor. Bill Elliott - Coors, Davey Allison - Texaco, Jeff Gordon - Dupont, Rusty Wallace - Miller, Dale Earnhardt - GM Goodwrench, etc. But today, you can only find a few teams with one sponsor for a full season, actually only 10. The rest of the Nascar Cup teams are scrambling to fill space and add funds. The TV packages are split, could the Nascar series be next "Sprint - Coors Cup"? Here's a list of the primary sponsors this year on Cup teams.

I don't know about everyone else but the cup races are boring. Thank god for my recorder. I have been a NA$CAR fan before it was on TV. Loved going to Riverside and seeing the west coast guys ( T. Willimson, Jimmy Ensolo, Oren Prosser) to name a few try to compete with the cup regulars. Where is the racing gone ???? Racing in the dictonary means passing, not track position.
Untill NA$CAR changes the way cars are set up and the tire rule it will be "fuel only or 2 tires" This will be the undoing of Cup racing. With the state of the economy (sponsorship) the way it is if the crowd isn't excited about the race Brian better start turning the tracks into corn fields. We have covered the cost to enter and race a car here. I don't see NA$CAR helping the sport survive with the way the rules are. Now FI and all the R&D to make that work...$$$ for what end game...to save a few gals. of fuel in 400 mi.
Smokey Yunick......."load the waggon the mule is blind" The two Bill's Smokey hated the most was Bill France & Bill Clinton...I say Brian didn't fall to far from the tree.

@Speedy , the Clinton and France reference was Smokey Yunick's comments. Complain to Smokey.PS he passed a few years ago.Smokey didn't have anything nice to say about Bill France, either one.And I can only guess as to Smokey's political leanings.

Speedy 7....you might enjoy Smokey's humor read his 3 books The World According To Smokey. It will give you some insight on the earily days of NA$CAR and the drivers. Smokey was a smart man he developed many things that we use today....one comes to mind the spintron machine. I recommend these books to anyone who is interested in racing.

I worked at Dan Gurney's in 1972 and Smokey bought a new Indy Eagle from him. He came to Santa Ana for 3 weeks to fit a Chevy engine in it at the AAR shop. I was assigned to be his contact for parts. What an interesting guy he was. He did love stock cars, but he really loved Indy cars because that type of racing was so wide open and there were so few rules

For example; Napa on the 55 vs FedEx on the 11.
Or even; Pepsi on the 88 vs National Guard on the 88
