this event has drawn early criticism from the off road racing world, but it looks like it is going on as planned. Have fun!
Thanks, Criticism ? I dont care to much about all the B.S. I Just want a weekend off !! lol.Jim,
I think some folks were worried the event wasn't taking place...or details were sketchy...but everything looks good to go. I hope you have a blast!
Doing Tech stop by
I'm planning on being there. If nothing else it is a reason to take a nice long weekend drive and get away for a few days.
I looked & tried to find out info the competition info for this event , but came out zilch . But who the hell is running in this besides RG ? Is this going to be an event where RG runs against the big guns?
TOG your not the only one who cant find an entry list! That has been problem #1 with the event and MI7. Not a single racer knows who is officially entered. 99% of the early criticism from the off-road community has been because of the lack of communication with MI7, then what they have said has been found out to be false. They have continued to say more racers are signing up, yet no one knows who? MI7 started a thread on RDC called "All Answers Here" More then 20 times they have been asked to produce a official entry list, and every single request has been ignored. Another big topic was the pay out scale. Yet again not a clear answer has been given. Other questions get answered and even some of those have been later found to be not accurate.

At the beginning they promoted BJ, Viladosila, Menzies and Pistol Pete as all racing and every single one of them has posted on their websites or on RDC that they in fact they are not racing this event. Langley Productions (COPS TV show) was listed as who was going to produce the TV show. Well Zak Langley posted on RDC that in fact they were not involved with MI7 or this event. Most racers are from CA, AZ or NV. With the lack of info and support on MI7's end I would not expect allot of racers to make the drive from home to Utah for this event. For me personally if I was going to race this event I would want a check in hand from MI7 covering my travel expenses before I would even consider this event.
Sorry Kevin, racing isn't that simple and the promoter needs to do a better job of releasing credible info.
Kevin put the shoe on the other foot. If Speed Energy was not the title sponsor would Robby actually show up to this event? We are only 15 days away from this event. Let see no official entry list, no clear explanation of how the money will be dispersed between the classes and what the pay out scale is. How many have to enter in each class to get their cut of the $50 grand Speed has put up? How many classes are eligible for the Speed Energy money? MI7 has bragged about the awesome TV package they have, yet they have not told anyone the specifics, except that Langley Productions was doing it. Then Langley Productions puts a statement out that they have zero involvement with this MI7 or this event.

Lets see this event is 750 miles from So cal where most teams reside. That is a long expensive haul for most with little to no info from the promoter. Oh then the Baja 1000 is just over a month later after this event. Once again that is a huge financial commitment for a team to add this race this late in the season and only a month before the Baja 1000.

So I ask you to take Speed Energy out of the equation and read what has been said by MI7. Would Robby spend his money to to race this event?
This reminds me of the final days of La Rana... I remember they had an awesome TV package and a big investor.
If your in it for the money then get out now !! lol.Race it or stay home. Whats the big deal? It looks like it will be fun. It is what it is. If you cant drive 6 or 12 hrs for a race then you dont need to be a racer.
big statement Cyndi.Let's see, house payment or spend a K to entertain a fan.By your definition I'm not a racer,I'm good with that.
By the way most racers that race for prize money, don't do it to 'make money' they just don't wish to lose their ass or pay for the show. My question to you,is how much capital do you have tied up in race equipment and whats the furthest you've towed to race?
