Major penalty coming for the #38? bleeder valves found on the tires

Read this over at jayski's.  It sounds like the #38 could have a 200 point $200,000 penalty coming and could put Robby back in the Top 35!!!

Illegal bleeder valves on the #38 at Pocono? Sources tell Sirius that NASCAR discovered clandestine [secrecy or concealed] air pressure bleeder valves on the tires of Travis Kvapil's #38 Front Row Motorsports Ford Sunday at Pocono Raceway. Following the rain delay, NASCAR officials reportedly observed two soft tires on the rear of Kvapil's car and held him from rolling back onto the track for the start of the race. Closer examination of those tire and wheel assemblies allegedly revealed illegal bleeder valves, which purge excess air pressure from the tires as it accumulates under race conditions. If confirmed, the team would likely face a major NASCAR penalty, since tires are considered to be one of the sanctions "untouchable" items, along with engines and fuel.(Sirius Speedway)(6-8-2010)

fter yesterday's story about Front Row's possible infraction at Pocono, [NASCAR Insiders] are hearing today that the penalty from NASCAR could be the biggest ever handed down. When NASCAR makes the announcement later today or tomorrow, expect the penalty to include a $250,000 fine and 300 driver and owner points for Travis Kvapil and owner Bob Jenkins. A suspension for crew chief Steven Lane will also be included. This penalty tops the sanctions handed down last season to Carl Long's team after his engine was discovered to be too large at Charlotte. No word yet on how this will affect the team's status moving forward. Expect the team to appeal the decision.
Let's hope that the 38's penalty is immediately applied and RGM is back in the Top 35 this Friday for Qual.
It was back in 2008 with that ridiculous nose penalty. I remember Robby wasnt able to participate in the top 12 media interviews at California because of it.
If Front Row Motorports' #38 is handed a 300 point penalty...here's how the owner points would look:

32) #34-Conway/Front Row: 1069 +165
33) #71-Labonte/TRG: 1069 +165
34) #37-Kvapil/Front Row: 1051 +147
35) #7-Gordon/RGM: 991 +87
these teams/ drivers must qualify by speed:
36) #26-Stremme/Latitude43: 904 -87
37) #38-Gilliland/Front Row: 775 -216
Why should Gilliland take the hit?
It would be the 38, I guess you would call that Gilliland's usual car
Kvapil would be docked driver points, since he was the driver that week. But they seem to put Go Go Gilliland in the car with the fewest owner points, so I would expect the penalized car to be his for the rest of the year, to try to get it back into the top 35...
We still would not have much of a buffer zone over the 26 car. We need some good weeks. There is absolutely no reason we shouldn't be ahead of the 37, 71, or the 34 in any way shape or form.
Ive been following our friends at David Gilliland.com and its not sounding good for their case, theyre talking about the teams cutting back on the number of races they run or possibly shutting down for good (though i think thats a bit much), even though we would benefit greatly because of it, i feel terrible for some of those people on that team (David, Travis, and the team members who didnt cheat and worked their tails off every weak.)
It really sucks for the team people for sure, but someone decided to think outside the bun...
And some team members were complicit in it - there's no way one rogue team member does this without anyone else knowing.
rim shot .
