Major penalty coming for the #38? bleeder valves found on the tires

Read this over at jayski's.  It sounds like the #38 could have a 200 point $200,000 penalty coming and could put Robby back in the Top 35!!!

Illegal bleeder valves on the #38 at Pocono? Sources tell Sirius that NASCAR discovered clandestine [secrecy or concealed] air pressure bleeder valves on the tires of Travis Kvapil's #38 Front Row Motorsports Ford Sunday at Pocono Raceway. Following the rain delay, NASCAR officials reportedly observed two soft tires on the rear of Kvapil's car and held him from rolling back onto the track for the start of the race. Closer examination of those tire and wheel assemblies allegedly revealed illegal bleeder valves, which purge excess air pressure from the tires as it accumulates under race conditions. If confirmed, the team would likely face a major NASCAR penalty, since tires are considered to be one of the sanctions "untouchable" items, along with engines and fuel.(Sirius Speedway)(6-8-2010)

Welcome RGM back into the top 35!
WoW ! Thanks 4 Posting This !
I'm missing something. Where does it say 200 points and $200,000?
Penalties are usually on Tuesday.

200 Points and 200k sounds like wishful thinking by some people......
200 point is wishful thining, but 100 points is likely if the infraction is that serious. The #7 car is only 84 points back from the #38 and a 100 point penalty would put Robby back in the top 35. After missing a race, that is a remarkable turn of events.
I was also thinking 100/$100. That seems to be the standard with "major" infractions. If it actually was bleeder valves, that is blatant and major.
Where's Chuck Woolery? Let him make the official announcement.
And Michael Waltrip got 100/100 for one of the "untouchable areas"

If you can count on anything, its that NASCAR will be consistent.

It's not like they soaked the tires or anything, so I'm not sure how I see this as really relating to one of the "untouchable areas". They just messed with air pressure, not actually the tire.

I say 50/50, tops. I still don't see anything on NASCAR.com about any infraction at all.
you didnt see anything about RG's braces from Darlington until the day the penalty was released. That flew under the radar all race weekend and leading up to the point of penalty announcement.
Mistake NOT Robbie 25 points $25.00
whoa.

i'll believe it when i see it though.
Breaking News: Front Row Facing Possible Penalties Over Tire Issue
Written by Journo on Jun 7th, 2010
As we mentioned this morning on Twitter, we are hearing Front Row Motorsports could be facing penalties from NASCAR after illegal bleeder mechanisms were discovered on the #38 car prior to Sunday’s race.

The rain delay appears to have played a role in the discovery of the issue. As Kvapil exited pit road following the delay, NASCAR backed him up because of two flat rear tires. NASCAR officials escorted the team’s tire specialist and the two tires in question to the NASCAR hauler. We are hearing bleeder mechanisms were responsible for the flat tires.

Bleeder mechanisms are easily installed on the valve stem of the tire and are meant to help a car maintain tire air pressure. As pressure builds in the tire during a run, the valve opens and relieves pressure.

Penalties involving the fuel, the engine, and the tires are generally NASCAR’s severest. As we have seen in recent years with penalties involving Carl Long and Michael Waltrip, NASCAR has made a point to make examples of those found to be beyond the rulebook in those three areas.

As Front Row struggles with points and money this could hurt the team substantially. The team looked to be well on its way to locking all three cars into the top-35 after this weekend’s race. Obviously any points penalty could change that. Additionally, the team only has full-time sponsorship on one car – monetary fines could be detrimental to the team’s future.

Expect any penalty announcements to be made tomorrow.
