#7-Robby Gordon says he has enough funding to race in all the Cup races through April, meaning Darlington would be the first race he would miss if funding isn't found.

As a Darlington native, I would hate to see Rob miss that one but money don't grow on trees unless you are selling pot

LOL...or Mark Martin, Bowyer, Burton, Montoya, Edwards, Vickers...

Most of them will propbably re-up with their current teams...but one or some may not....only so many palces to go...
Q: How do you make a small fortune in racing?
A: Spend a large one!

Racing and winning does not make money. This is a hobby and a passion.
Using racing to build a another sustainable cash flow (selling stuff like SPEED) makes money.

Nascar is part of Robby's marketing campaign. Nascar is not his business. Nascar is only one way how he builds his business.
How do you think Robby made money until he started Speed Energy last year? he made it racing NASCAR.
I was thinking about this. RG might not be in the business of building other racers careers, but he is in the Energy Drink business now. He needs to start thinking what is going to sell cans?

IMO SPEED Energy needs to get into the Supercross and X game extreme style sports. I bet if you look at the demographics those are the ones buying the majority of Energy Drinks. How many Flatbillers do you know or see wearing a Monster hat because it's cool? I was just in our local Motorcycle shop and the apparel they are selling are replica Supercross riding jerseys with Monster, Rockstar and Red Bull logo's all over them. People are buying them and riding with them on. These companies are not sponsoring them and yet they pay to wear their colors because its cool.
I wish they had Speed Energy drink in Western Pa. I bet it would sell pretty darn good.
But now the packers have won, everyone is all happy shmappy amd forgot about racing
RGM should try to hook up with a Rum or Vodka company for the stretch of races over the summer, give them the hood and work up some fancy livery that combines the Speed colors with the Alcohol companies colors. Captain Morgan has like 10 types of Rum & I know their Parrot Bay brand comes in a few flavors. Setup a little Hospitality area at the track (or a bar near the track) and give it some Summer Tour name like "Captain Morgan & Speed Energy present the Summer of Fun Tour", have people try Speed mixed with a variety of their various rums and have them vote on which one they like best. At the end of the summer the winning drink gets their mix put up on the Captain Morgan website and promoted in clubs across the country (world?) and at the various Captain sponsored events thus increasing the exposure of Speed while getting some good sponsorship for that summer stretch of races.

Now all we gotta do is convince Captain Morgan that it's a good idea.... l0l
Parrot Bay + Octane = awesome... of course, we came up with not-so-PR name for it... "bird pee"
How about GT Vodka ;-)
While your idea makes sense from a purely marketing perspective, that might not be such a hot idea right now. There's a lot of negative press out there about people mixing energy drinks and alcohol, and the consensus is large amounts of alcohol and caffeine aren't a good mix. Once you drink so much, your body wants to slow down but the energy drink won't let it. More and more young people are going to have problems from mixing these drinks. Let someone else absorb the negative PR when it happens.

I think it is probably a better idea if RG sells Speed in clubs and lets people do what they want with it after that. I don't think a Smirnoff logo on the car is a great idea. That's just IMO.
of course, Darlington is the first cup race we will probably see this year....sniff sniff..
Its a shame that he has to fight for funding. I think he needs to go full time Indy car!! He is the best in open wheel racing and its on a more even playing field.
