STAGE 5 TRACKING

STAGE 5: AREQUIPA > ARICA

Connection 337km | Special Stage 172km | Total 509km

COURSE OVERVIEW

A relatively late start will allow the slowest competitors to make up for time lost the day before, as well as to cope with the time change which has been scheduled. For this transition stage which will see the rally enter Chile, the contrast will be visible both in terms of the variety of scenery and the average speeds recorded at the finish. The tracks taken by the motorcyclists will take their toll on their arms: the environment is favourable to attacks, but the stony sections and the rivers to be crossed in some areas will curb their enthusiasm. Those in four-wheeled vehicles will also criss cross between the first reliefs, from valley to valley, with the eyes of the navigators glued to the road book.

Great Robby today...finish 3rd at only 1'41 of the winner in starting 93 wowowow...we can consider that like a victory...very good job Robby...if it's over for the final victory, there is lot of things to show again...

Started 27th

He started in 27th today, not 93rd; bumped him up because of his elite driver status

That normal...there is no sense to let elite drivers start behind the low trafic...hoping tomorrow we'll have the same Rob than today...

RG passed 10 cars physically on course today. Bet he was just flying by em'. Vigouroux finished 19th today.

Was hoping for a little more from Viggy; but good finish either way. :)

Way to go Robby....what a comeback.....keep this pace up you will win overall. What excitement this is watching you!

Way to go Robby! Never give up, can't wait until tomorrow!

Peter and Nasser are pulling away from the field in the overall standings, with De Villiers in the Toyota 34mins behind in 3rd, and most of the cars from 6th place on back more than an hour out.

Will either one of those two have their own problems ? Aside from Nasser stopping for a couple of minutes to help Sainz in an earlier stage ( He's about 10 mins back overall now) neither of them seem to have caught any bad luck...so far.

Say what you will about Peter, the guy has a talent for staying up front, year after year.

Frankenhummer was fast again today. Can't wait until tomorrow!

Fast and smooth picking up positions as he goes if other teams have equally bad luck things could get interesting ( no quiters ) GAS ON RG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
