STAGE 6 TRACKING

STAGE 6: UYUNI > UYUNI

Connection 181km | Special Stage 542km | Total 723km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The longest special section of the Dakar takes place on the 6th day of consecutive racing. And that is not the only difficulty of this operation, which will take place between 3,500 and 4,200m in altitude. The pace and surfaces change constantly, alternating between sand and rock, which may be disconcerting, especially if it rains. Glimpses of the Salar d’Uyuni are but one of the visual delights on the agenda. Meanwhile, the truck category, which will race separately on this 6th stage, will visit the home town of the President Evo Morales.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

I don't understand Spanish, but if I did I would think this guy on the Bolivian TV would sound something like a Waltrip calling a NASCAR race.

Oddly enough Boogity Boogity Boogity is the same in Spanish

This Bolivian announcer could make watching trees grow exciting for awhile.

Well I look at it this way, still ahead of last year's overall standing to this point, correct ?

Seems like this every year. Runs with the best of them, if not for the one or two bad days.

+1 JR "it ain't over till it's over"

I was timing some of the cars off the start while watching the stream - http://livestream.com/accounts/10468276/BtvDeportes?t=1452172584845 . I would time it from the start to a certain camera position. The 3 peugeots, Nasser's mini and the first 2 toyotas had similiar times of around 11.5 seconds. A couple of other minis and the Gordini clocked in at about 13.5 seconds. I can only very roughly guess that these were anywhere from 0-50mph - 0-70 mph times. A 2 second difference in acceleration in that short of a distance seems to be alot.

The Hummer was faster

Wonder them PUGs having IRS must be good for handling. They were solid axle last year.

No, they where IRS last year also

robby killed the gordini?

Nope, back up to SPEED
