STAGE 3 TRACKING

STAGE 4: NAZCA > AREQUIPA

Connection 429km | Special Stage 288km | Total 707km

COURSE OVERVIEW

It was a painful experience for many competitors when they discovered the area last year. At the beginning of the special stage, the dunes follow one another, each one like the next, strung out in a never-ending desert capable of unsettling the best technical specialists. In the opposite direction, Stéphane Peterhansel and “Nani” Roma, both of whom are masters when it comes to crossing dunes, each lost almost fifteen minutes there, and risked missing out on the first two places of the overall standings. And the level of difficulty will be even more demanding this year! During the crucial stage of the first week, the rally will be even tougher for motorcyclists: they will quail on a 2-km slope, of which the gradient will put the descent of Iquique on a par with a gentle children’s slide.

Can someone explain to me, please what this means (from the Live Comments section, Dakar.com). Does this mean that the complaint that Sainz put in and was ok'd has now been overturned? He is showing a 14th start position for today.
Thanks!
03:01 : RACE OFFICIALS’ DECISION
The race officials for the car category,After having examined the report made by the Race Director,After discussions with the Race Director,After discussions with competitor number 303,After discussions with technical service provider ERTF,Have taken the following decision:Cancelation of the decision taken previously by the Race Management, on the following basis:The Race Management took its decision on 6th January 2013 further to a claim from competitor 303 on the basis of partial technical analysis proving that the main GPS experienced malfunctions.Comprehensive and more detailed analysis, based on the final report made by ERTF, in fact revealed that the second GPS was functioning correctly.

They took back the time they gave him because they didn't believe him after a review of both trackers. The electrical problems yesterday seem like it may not have helped? IDK though. He back in the 40 minute club now. and talking suitcases.

Thanks. The item got so convoluted it confused me. But that doesn't take much LOL

I heard Sainz shut off the GPS a couple times looking for the WP
