Stage 5 - Wednesday, January 7
Neuquen > San Rafael
Connection: 173 km | Special: 506 km | Connection: 84 km | Total: 763 km
The major test of the first week of the race will perhaps be fought on the road to San Rafael. The long distance will oblige teams to remain concentrated at all times. The pilots will also be confronted with real dune passageways, including a range nearly twenty kilometers long. Long off-road stretches will alternate with much more technical sections in the track following the “rios”. The Cordillera can be seen on the horizon, but taking time to sightsee is out of the question: a too-late arrival at the bivouac always leaves a mark.

You are the big weinner of that stage!
I like this it makes the time between stages go faster
Good job on the posts go Robby go!!!!!!!
I figured it at 17 Min after the first car showed up.
Very up and down day for the Hummer. But ended up loosing 5 minutes to Al Attiyah.

The top four overall will be a lot tighter now with Sainz having an off stage....
Hell, only 7 guys need to F some stuff up for ole RG to pull this one off. I'm going to put my money on No. 300.
will be six by the end of this stage
How do you figure that?
Nice! But yeah, its pretty silly for people to keep hoping/thinking that everyone ahead of RG is going to magically fall apart.

I wouldn't bet against Peterhansel, but Sainz did beat him for the CER and I've been very impressed with Al Attiyah. Sainz was right with Peterhansel for the PAX too....
All sand to the finish
d.depping really put on a show today if he ends up winning this rally stage 5 is the day that saved his ass
I think he is too far behind to be a serious threat for the overall at this point. He would have to pass three teammates....
