Join in and discuss all the action from Stage 3 of the 2015 Dakar Rally. After issues with the brakes and a stalled car, Robby Gordon finished 50th in stage 2, and is over 4hrs behind in the overall standings. The special section of Stage 3 is 284km long. COURSE OVERVIEW

The pressure which competitors faced the day before (and late into the night for some of them), will partly ease off on the road to Chilecito. The shorter and less intense stage will allow them to enjoy their majestic surroundings. The red earth tracks, overlooking steep peaks and plunging down into canyons, will take the Dakar through one of the most beautiful regions of Argentina. But no-one should be tempted to sit back and enjoy the view, particularly on the motorcycle and quad bike routes which include some gruelling sections. With thousands of stones to be avoided, it will only take one to ruin this magnificent day!

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

I'm wondering the same thing ! It looks like more than half of the field simply stopped out in the desert for the night. Will they start the show without them in the morning ? When will these teams get a chance to do maintenance? Will the organizers be OK with trashing over half the field in only the second day of the Dakar ? Maybe it's all getting straightened out as we speak, but if not, it sounds like a huge boondoggle to me.

currently missing 75 cars and 18 bikes. Like my wife said, have the marathon stage early and put them out of their misery.

I can't believe that there is still no official news about this. The Dakar site is still mum about the whole situation, as well as their Twitter, Facebook etc.

The 57th place car is listed as finishing approximately 5 hours behind the leader, and then over the next two hours, only 3 more cars are listed as crossing the finish, and then no more. As of midnight here on the west coast./p>

Sorry to ask, I've tried to find the answer on my own but I can't, what was the problema that caused the 3+ hr delay yesterday late in stage 2. I know about the brake issue and saw the vid but I haven't yet seen any info about the late stage issue. TY in advance.

apparently 2 things , broken brake line then a light fire at rear right (brakes related also) but we still need to wait from team speed to confirm .
tog will let us know when the official version is up .
