STAGE 2 TRACKING

STAGE 2: PISCO > PISCO

Connection 85km | Special Stage 242km | Total 337km

COURSE OVERVIEW

Like every year, more than 25% of the competitors will discover the Dakar for the first time. With this stage, they will be immediately immersed in a sandy environment and cross gentler dunes. Their initial endeavours will allow them to test and adjust their driving techniques, but also to sample the delights of shovelling sand for some, while several engines will overheat for the first time. During this stage where there is only sand, the minor scares at the beginning of the special stage will not stop the majority of drivers and navigators from savouring a constant treat for the eyes. In terms of aesthetics, the scenery borders on perfection.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Thanks, TOG. I understand now.

But now down from the 302 so a nqt exactly accurate. Adds to the net down from the 302 yesterday.

Regardless of the finish, each stage of Dakar is more exciting than the previous stage.

Tomorrow morning, you will all have forgotten about stage 2 and will be pumped for stage 3

exactly !

Ok, lets go over Stage 3 then.. TOG ?

stage 3 thread goes up at 8:00p/et, but it's the first stage that is NOT a looper :)

In reality, as we climb the ladder of passing guys in the standings even though time was lost to the oh so early leader we increase the probality and chances and potential of actually getting a chance to "see" what we want to see out on the course. Without going into a detailed explanation (no I won't) of what I'm saying I know the multitude and general population here fully understands what we want to have happen, be it some handful of days away perhaps and yes the sooner the better....... off in the wings we wait ..................salivating in anger and a touch for some of humble existance and humility. The press be damned I wish I had one of those old suction cup adhering swinging back and fourth hands for my car window with "the finger" expressing how I feel! Next..................

Im sure it has been posted but the NBC sport's channel doing a good job of RG covervage.

Go get em boys. This will be a good year

Jalopnik has posted a bunch of hi-res (well relatively) pictures from Dakar day 1 & 2.

Don't know if this is old news or if I'm the one breaking it here but I just saw it come across Facebook a few minutes ago.

Carlos Sainz has been awarded 21 minutes on Stage 2 by the ASO after an investigation to the GPS issues. He is now back in the lead.

yep but there's no explanation from ASO. And if you see the general ranking after stage 2, Al-Attiyah is now in the last position with +9h07mn00 : http://www.dakar.com/dakar/2013/us/stage-2/rankings/overall-cars.ht...
