Join us for the Dakar Rally's second day on Jan 4, 2009 , right here and chat about the action during the 2nd stage.

Stage 2 - Sunday, January 4
Santa Rosa > Puerto Madryn
Connection: 0 km | Special: 237 km | Connection: 600 km | Total: 837 km
The longest stage of the rally will not necessarily be the most difficult. However, it should still be approached with vigilance and, above all, will a complete set of rally equipment. After a rapid first part of the special, a foretaste of sand will be proposed. On the off-roads of this stage, copilots will need to pay careful attention to their course. The more distracted will begin to “turn in circles”.

And you just select the five drivers you want to actively follow, but you can click COMPLETE STANDINGS at the bottom of your list. It shows updates at five intervals on the course today.
Doing the same....
Good news it looks like #1 overall 302 AL ATTIYAH lost over 5 minutes between KM73 and KM108 This puts Sainz at #1

Right now overall Robby is still 17M 19sec behind current leader Sainz.
What do you mean by "he hasn't added to his time today"?
Yeah, he's added almost three minutes so far....
My bad, forgot he was 14 back yesterday I thought it was 17 lost 3 more today (its not over though) ...
That's ok...I thought I was missing something in my sleep deprived state...lol.
If he makes up time by the end of the stage, GREAT. But losing less than five minutes overall wouldn't be too bad....and a better stage finish today, would be a better stage start tomorrow. And that always helps.
and look 302 lost 5 minutes in about 30KM so anything can happen (and will) up front. Consistancy is important
Now its probably going to be another hour before any real updates. We can watch CP2 to see if anyone puts up a better through that point (not likely now that 28 cars are through, RG still 10th through CP2).
