Here is a highlight from eurosport, no Robby, but it shows what the course was like.
thanks Blain, I've never really seen that countryside and was wondering what it looked like there. Can't wait for Versus tomorrow!

Stage 1 Highlight from Eurosport, no Robby, but you can see what the terrain was like.

Slippery and wet is what Stage 1 was being described as by some, maybe they should have shortened it more?

Dakar Rally fan in 'critical' condition after accident during stage one
From correspondents in Cordoba, Argentina

January 03, 2010 A Dakar Rally fan was in a critical condition after a vehicle taking part in the gruelling event careered off course and into a group of spectators.

The accident happened during the opening stage of the 2010 event across Argentina and Chile.

A number of other fans were also hurt in the incident which involved the German-Swiss duo of Mirco Schultis and Ulrich Leardi, who were driving a Desert Warrior car.

"Competitor No.418 (Schultis-Leardi) collided with a group of spectators at the 75km mark of the special stage outside the 'public zone','' organisers said a statement.

"Several people have been injured, one of whom is in a critical condition. Local medical services as well as helicopters have evacuated the injured.''
Unfortunately it looks like she died...

"Medical sources reported a female spectator had died after being hit by a wayward car during the opening stage of the 2010 Dakar Rally."
