STAGE 10: IQUIQUE > ANTOFAGASTA

Connection 58km | Special Stage 631km | Total 689km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The special stage, split into two sections with very different features, will begin with the descent towards the shores of the Pacific. The advance gained in the stage the day before may will be increased in the sand during the first two hundred kilometres. Even more skill will be required to tackle the sections of fesh-fesh in the second part of the stage. Once this difficult area is behind the drivers, they will all be delighted to twist and wind along the region’s mine tracks, and in particular to be welcomed by the majestic arch of La Portuda, a stone’s throw from the bivouac in Antofagasta.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

We start yet

Still an hour plus to go. I can not wait (Today is going to be their day, I feel it).

Just over a half hour before the first car leaves.

did robby get a penalty?, it showing a one hour penalty from yesterday and bj got 2 hours

I'm confused. There appears to be a 1 hour 3 min penalty on the stage 8 results. This was of course the stage where RG started late due to waiting to fuel up the HST. That time was given back to him and he was posted as 10th place for that stage. He is now shown in 56th for the stage. So it looks like the decision to give him his time back has been reversed. TOG?? Any news??

Did they reverse one penalty only to give him another? On the bright side tracking appears to be working for the bikes.

Yeah, I noticed his total penalty time and wondered where that extra hour came from too?

TOG has him 23rd overall on the planets main page, but it you look at Dakars main page they have him listed as 27th overall with total penalty time of 2:32:30. If you take away an hour it would put him in 23rd. Someone must have protested!

Hi guys,
It appears the infamous mystery hour from stage 8 is back to haunt us.
Any news on this issue?

The neutralization zone begins at WP 7 and the timed race restarts at 8.

good morning all

Good afternoon!
