STAGE 12: San Juan > San Rafael

Connection 23 km | Special Stage 476 km | Connection 297 km | Total 796 km

Course Overview

For the longest stage of the rally, the program will be as lively as it will be spectacular. We will leave the area of dinosaurs on tracks cut by rios, surrounded by canyons and "fairy chimneys". After around 200 kilometres of special, the competitors will momentarily use the road in order to avoid a classified and protected natural site. The second part, exclusively sandy will have many jumps. The bikers can expect to have sore arms and the best of them will rarely ride at over 100 km/h. The day will be even more tiring due to the fact that it will end with a long liaison.

SPECIAL STAGE FINISH MOVED TO THE 470-KM POINT

Faced with record numbers of spectators who have come in their masses from the nearby city of
Mendoza to the finishing line of the day’s special situated at the 476-km point, the race organisers have decided to move the finishing line to the 470-km point of the route, in order to ensure the safety of the spectators and competitors, who will still cover the full 476 km, but at slow speeds for the last 6 km.
Special has been shortened for safety due to large crowds at the finish line. Timing will stop 6 minutes before finish so times will probably be messed up. Can anyone say SCORE? lol
well as of now, al-attiyah has arrived. miller 2nd +3'30"
Starting to roll in
Looks like Ali has won, Miller is in 2nd + 3'.
Alitir didn't win yet
rg is in 5th +10m
RG and Andy have finsihed +10'56". 5th place for the stage for now.
Times look screwwy, RG may be 1st, second, or third.
I'm hoping for some speeding penalities for some cars as it looks like they gained some ground there for sure. It looks like RG maintained the proper speed thru the tarmac section given the loss of time.
Gordon ended up now in 5th position
were is sir BJ? anybody know?
