Stage 9 - Monday, January 12

La Serena > Copiapo
Connection: 88 km | Special: 449 km | Connection: 0 km | Total: 537 km
We are at the first step of a decisive trilogy. The reputation of the Atacama Desert, known as the world’s driest, will be tested by the competitors. Those who hope to find dunes will be rewarded. But they will also be fed a generous helping of rocks. This stage is typical of the Dakar 2009, with numerous changes of terrain. The positioning of difficulties, with long stretches of dunes at the end, will require pilots to conserve their strength. They must show themselves to be both multi-talented and with a firm sense of how to manage their efforts.

You DA WOman!
Robby should be next
15 minutes behind miller
looks like legit fourth so far. Might be some people missing
He's through 218km. About 15 minutes behind Miller..
looks like he still 4th on the stage the other are just imposters
Yeah, the top three are obviously errors. Its only about 15 minutes travel between 218km and 235km, so we'll get a good adjustment there after cars are through. Not sure where some of the cars that were right around RG at 131km are now. RG lost time, so they could have made up some.
Miller and Sianez through CP3
Anyone know why CP2 and CP3 are so close? The terrain doesn't even look too bad between them, no severe elevation change...
likely an opportunity to cut a big chunk off hte course if you dont hit both. that was always the case when I used to race
Makes sense.

Aren't they using hidden Way Points though, that the drivers and navigators aren't aware of exactly where the WPs are. Just to keep them on course. I thought Al-Attiyah was DQd for misising a hidden WP. Ie, being too far out of range of the WP.

I'm really not sure and may well be talking out of my ass...
Looks like Miller really wants to make this a three way battle among the VW drivers.

Isn't he running for the full SCORE schedule this year for Red Bull and VW? They're gonna be tough.
