Is Nascar scheduling race's later for a reason?

It seems like the races so far this year are starting later then the past, (Correct me if I'm wrong.)

1) Is this to let more people get to the race tracks after doing family things on Sundays?

2) To make the races more interesting, (In Nascar's mind.) by letting the tracks cool down.

3) Or do they feel they get more of a TV audience by starting later.

Just firgured I would see what the planet thought.

This is a good topic I was thinking the same thing about them starting later. I think they should start the races earlyer, so red flag the races longer if it rains. If you start the race at 1:30 insted of 3:30 they could red flag the race for 2 hours longer if they think they can get the race in.
I don't know why they are scheduling the races later but one side effect is that there are more drunks in the stands by the time the race starts. At California it was getting unreal how many people were drunk and out of control. They had all day to party and then make fools of themselves during the race and making everyone around them mad.

These races should not start after noon to keep the number of drunks to a minimum.
1pm at the latest Jim. The drunks were unreal Sunday...just like the Labor Day Weekend race. Drink all morning and afternoon, stumble to their seats, then pass out before the race starts (if you are lucky) or puke (if you are unlucky in late August/early September).
I have been near the drunks that pass out and the 2007 Labor Day Weekend race (the 110+ degree day), a drunk to our left and 3 rows down hurled. And by the time someone came to clean it up, it had already dried completely. But the smell was still there. I am surprised more people didn't hurl after that.
There is one answer... TV ratings and sponsorship dollars. The larger the potential audience, the larger the potential ratings. More people watch TV after 5pm then after 1pm. If you start a race at 4pm East Coat time, you get will get more West Coast people then if you start it at 1pm. Likewise, if you start a CA race at 3pm, you run into East Coast Prime Time.
Ok gang please dont kill me but, out here on the west coast its easier for me to have a race party when we have late starts.
1-it justifies popping the bottle of Beam Black at noon or 1 rather than at 9am.
2-Having a party on a Sunday @ noon or 1 makes it easier for the hung over friends from the night before to attend.
3-It gives me time in the morning to take care of small projects and spend time with the fam. where as before I was normally worn out (happily buzzed) after a race.
4- We would be willing to share event times with you guys in the east. This year Nascar has late starting times for us, and you guys suffer. Then next year it goes back to nornal, then we have to deal with it.
lol just having fun
To bad I just pace around in circles well waching Robby videos on youtube before the race starts. I can't calm down from the time I wake up until the race is over.
