In addition to the clip in the NBC pre race show, IndyCar gave a shout it to SST in the LBGP weekend recap sent out to IndyCar Nation members by Patrick Stephan of TrackSideOnline.com. In the midst of his race weekend summary, he had this to say about SST:
"Just got to see one of the coolest "Demonstrations" ever at a race track. I'll be honest, demonstrations at tracks are not usually something I watch. It's often drifting (yes, I know that is popular here) or something of that nature.
Today though it was Robby Gordon's new Stadium Super Truck series. Think back to the old Mickey Thompson series or (and this will tell me how old you are), playing the game Ivan Stewart's Off Road! One of my all time favorite video games as a kid. Well, they brought about 20 trucks here and set up some metal ramps on the Long Beach Grand Prix track.
I thought they'd just cruise around and then do some jumping. NOPE! They went hard, sliding all through the corners, and then flying off the jumps getting big air and flying half crooked and slamming in to the pavement. I was impressed.
Some of the names in the demo and racing in the series include Rob McCracken, Ricky Johnson, Jeff Ward, PJ Jones, Arie Luyendyk, Jr., and many others. I don't watch a lot of off road racing, but I do watch some and it seemed like all the big names are in this series. And it looked like a bunch of fun. Check their schedule and if they come to your town - go check it out. Should be a good time."
Cool to see SST getting some love from IndyCar via their official channels, not just behind the scenes.
nice that's some good stuff. cant wait for the vegas round.
