How does Kurt Busch keep his ride when so many others would do anything to get his seat at Penske?

OK with sponsors being hard to come by, with teams like RGM struggling to find funding. With mega teams like RCR and Roush shutting down teams, with guys like Reutimann, Ragan and Vickers looking for a ride in any series.

How is it Kurt can keep a fully sponsored ride? This video makes me appreciate guys like RG even more all the time.

I dont know how many saw Kurt give the middle finger out his front window as he was pulling into the garage right after the trans broke in his car at this last race. But that was the beginning of his rage.

Here is a video of Dr Jerry Punch trying to interview Kurt during the Homestead race. Actually they were waiting to go live and Kurt was pissed he was having to wait. He really got mad when Jerry asked him if he knew a part of his trans might have put a hole in the front of Stewarts car.

Guys, my sincerest apologies regarding Manny Esquerra.I meant no disrespect! Back then, I was a Ford guy, and Manny was one of my guys! I even worked at a local Firestone dealer, and one year during the Frontier 500 race here in Vegas in 1985, I arrived in my service truck to their pit in the parking lot of the Frontier hotel to see the team, and Manny himself greeted me and signed a bunch of posters to hang in my store. So on my Ford twin I-beam prerunner, I ran Firestone tires... I do know he was unhappy with some things with the team, whether it be with Firestone ect, I cant remember. And yes, I did misquote the CART team RG drove for, it wasa NOT Haas, but Derek Walker...And he still came on ESPN and bitched about the equiptment he was getting was not the same as Andretti, and they both were running the same stuff. Im getting old, and forgetful, plus I've been hit in the head too many times...Just ask Mrs. Tool, and Mini Tool! I will never forget those historic duels between Manny, and Roger Mears back in the class 7 days. In fact while I was recovering from a recent major back surgery, may buddy and I were watching old Beta Max tapes of races we recorded and ESPN recordings from the NV desert racing days. I even have old raw footage of "our Boy" in a class 1 car. Thank You for your time everybody.

its crap that a$$holes like K bush and k bush have top flight rides and others like RG cant get enough support from sponsers to run the full races. I have met RG several times and he comes across very well. I know he can turn the air blue just like the rest of us, but he seems to think a second before he speaks to the media. He is a good spokesman, but the bush idiots get the cars and backing........What the HECK! I am thirsty, time for a SPEED

Unfortunately that is the result of being a talented race car driver. If you have the talent to drive and the ablity to win races the you will get a sponsor and top tier car. Was there ever a proven winner in the prime of his career that couldn't land a top tier ride because of an "attitude" problem?

Maybe they lose a ride but move on to another top tier team that forces the driver to go to PR school to better his public image.

One thing I would expect to see if an apology from Kurt to Dr. Punch. I can understand his frustration and use of explatives while he waited impatiently for the interview, but he could have directed his anger more toward the network or NASCAR rather than Jerry. That was uncalled for and the reason why the majorty is coming down on him.

Not defending him, but there are many others that are that same way. MW comes to mind, Carl Edward is fake. JJ is not mister perfect, but put them in front of a camera, they seem so nice. Its so easy to fool the public when you only see a few seconds of a clip. They can't show the true personallities of these drivers because of the dictatorship of nascar, they would be ban. However the language Kurt used I wouldn't be surpised if the sponsor didn't have a stern word or two for him.

I guess it depends how old you are and how you were brought up. Words like language, respect & personallities are used in the posts here.

Here I go into a DAD life lesson.........we all in the heat of the moment say and do things later we wish we hadn't done or said. Part of the problem here is the media, they should know when to back off in the heat of the moment. I kind of put some of the ownership on ESPN. The Dr. could see that Kurt was upset and should have waited knowing his personallity.

Back to respect.......in this PC world we live in it seems we have been taught it is OK to say/do anything as long as you apologize after. This teaching comes from the times we live in, you may say you are sorry but the respect thing goes deeper. If you have the current today values the RESPECT idea doesn't mean anything.

If boys have at it goes to far how do you get the RESPECT from your peers. You live with these guys most of the year. To not be liked and respected in the garage is BIG no matter who you are. Just like the geek in the school yard you feel no one likes you so you resort to something to get attention. And guess what NA$CAR likes all the buzz it puts $$$ in Brian's pocket.

When you put competive athletes in a competetive arena you get PASSION. This passion sometimes can't be controlled........the Dr. should know that.

AND NA$CAR.........is counting on it...........as I have said before it is a SHOW racing is PASSING.
