from Will's post- here's the translation

In a press conference held yesterday in Japan by the president of HRC, Tetsu Suzuki, and reserved for the local media, this showed the first images of what will be the bike that Honda officially returns to Dakar. The quality of the images are not particularly good, but in this case it's novelty.

Suzuki also explained some details about the evolution and development work to be carried out by engineers. The bikes will be presented for the first time in public in the next room Cologne to be held the first week of October in the German city.

As we advance in Solo Moto, will not be racing debut in the Rally of the Pharaohs as planned at first, but in Morocco which is held two weeks later.

According to the explanations of the bike HRC president is now in its fifth evolution. In July last much of the staff assigned to the project traveled to Argentina to monitor tests in the South American country were making their future opponents. In Peru were also recognizing the ground. According to Suzuki, became impressed with the performance of the official KTM.

As for the Honda riders, provided by chief, HRC align 5 pilots, none of them Japanese, and being the most prominent Portuguese rider Helder Rodrigues, who finished third in the latest edition of the rally, with a Yamaha. The team will be recorded as HRC Team and manager of the structure will be headed by T. Yamazaki, designer off-road bikes Honda.

Besides the development of technology, something always present in HRC's participation in any sport, Suzuki President explained that his official presence in Dakar Honda aims ultimately to increase sales in the South American market.

The big news after day 3 is Marc Coma out with a dislocated shoulder.

Johnny Campbell race report, Morocco Rally Day 3.
Liason 17k
Special 292k
Liason 48k

Today was a point to point unlike previous days loop format. We left Erfoud and raced to Zagora. The route today was very fast, leaders averaging over 60mph. The terrain was mostly hi speed sandy/gravel roads with many rocks and many dry lake crossings. Very little off track riding. Easier day for navigation. I started around 20th today and quickly caught up to dust. It was difficult to pass with the speed and lack of vision. About a 90k Mark Coma was crashed out and being attended to by Helicopter medics.
I had a consistent ride, played on the conservative side with the rocks and hi speed. Pretty uneventful altogether. Finished 22nd on the day.
I feel good right now, a little fatigued after 3 solid days of racing and about 900k of riding. Helder stopped for the downed Mark Coma and has taken the lead in the Rally on his Factory CRF450 Rally bike. I am having a great time and cant wait til tomorrow's stage. If only the food wasn't so scary!

Jeff pointed out that Chevy running the Toyos, take a listen to the engine.

Sounds healthy. Maybe since dude is a frenchman, FIA won't mess with him. Love the footage of the bikes jumping at speed.

not motorbike, but I see there testing the Mini's
Thanks Will for all the updates.

There seems to have been the first major problem for Honda today with Helder stopping on the course, apparently with fuel issues

Very disappointing day for @rodrigueshelder with fuel issue that stopped him in SS4 but @felipezanol step in with top 3 finish

Johnny Campbell Race report Day 4: Morocco Rally
65k liaison 259k special 90k liaison

"Today's stage was by far the most challenging. Big Dunes you could surf through, little soft dunes with verticle drop on back sides relentlessly went on for mile after mile. They sucked your front wheel in almost throwing you over the bars, while almost endoing off the back sides. No rhythm, and to top it off we were treated with a blinding sand storm for the last 60k. You had to pay careful attention to the road book and GPS as Bearings and waypoints were carefully negotiated. I had a lot of fun in the big dunes with my teammate Pizzolito. We entered the dunes the same time
and keyed off each other all the way thru. Myself; everyday I feel stronger, navigating skills, riding, confidence. The old body is holding up well with now over 1000 miles in this week. My bike has been rock solid. Unfortunate for my boy Helder as he had bike issues that are still under investigation. Tomorrows stage will be 245k with massive amounts of dunes and off piste(cross country). Hoping to keep the forward momentum.
Love to all."

@JCRHonda's Johnny Campbell a bit late in SS5 today. He crashed in the dunes and couldn't get the bike started. No spark......so he removed seat and tank, repaired a broken cable and got going again.

Johnny Campbell race report day 5.
The Morocco Rally

"97k liaison 245 special 95k liaison
Today's stage ran a loop west back to east. 3Started in silty two track with scary ledges in the silt, then a large dune section 70k straight thru. Two large Dry-lake sections an more silt, backward on yesterday's stage.
Myself; Off the strt I was very hesitant in the silt with ledges and rode very carefully to the dunes. I was passed by 3 riders in the dust! In the big dune section I had a miss gap and stuffed the front we in a hole an tipped her over. Unfortunately, the bike would not start after the tip over. It felt like it wasn't even popping. A quick inspection I discovered a broken wire on the coil. I had to remove the seat and tank (big job on a rally bike) and repair the broken wire. Fortunately all those years of experience went to good use today. I got back on track and just rode safe for the rest of the stage.
I felt great, my hands are getting sore toward the end of the stages now.
Congrats to Helder an Sam for bring in two Honda podium finishes today.
Tomorrow is the final stage short Liasons with a 170k special. Hoping to finish out strong.
Miss everyone.
Love to all."
