Has anyone heard as to why the car is so much slower than the rest of the pack? Personally I would have thought the car would be a rocket with Dodge helping a great deal on the 500 car....what gives?

just to piss people off....nothing more....Once the green flag drops on Thursday , Sunday qualifying results will be nothing more than a memory.

"Based on qualifying, we're a little bit behind, but that doesn't change our approach that we came here to win the race. We know that the Penske engines are strong and reliable. Kurt (Busch) won last night in the Shootout and his Dodge really looked strong in the draft. We'll use practice this week to really shake down our SPEED Energy car and see where we were off today. It really doesn't matter where you qualify; it's about what position you put yourself in throughout the race to be there at end for a shot at the Daytona 500 win."

Too many of you seem to be hung up on RB working with the other Dodges. I think that is not too important to him and he could care less what "brand" stickers are on the car he works with. He is in the outside row and the logical thing to do at the start is work with the guy in front of you or behind you. On the outside row in front of RG are 5 Toyotas and they will probably try and hook up with each other. Behind him on the outside are two rolling turds that may be like hooking an anchor to your car hooking up with them.

I bet he just lays back at the start and lets the mayhem you know is going to happen, happen. After a yellow or two the cars are going to be all mixed up and then he can find a serious drafting buddy.

Dodge does not historically have a huge plate motor program. Chevrolet by far and away has the best, followed by Ford. However, the Dodge's HAVE historically performed well in the draft. You also have to remember that Robby typically has a ton of downforce on his cars for the plate programs. They won't qualify well but will race comfortably in the draft.

2 things to consider... NASCAR reduced the size of the radiator opening and it also reduced the temp for the Blow off value. This means that the pushers will need a new Strategy for the races. They will need to swap with someone once their water temp hits 250. It may mean more cars running with team mates and the even car team may have an advantage.

The 2 car draft is a formula for........1 boring race....2 the big one. I predict over 40% of the field will be in the grrage at the end of the race. You can read it in the answers after the Bud race. All drivers are trying to be PC so NA$CAR won't fine them.

The car in front uses the brakes to control the speed of the draft while the push car is the HP and can't see. This is a formula for disaster. Example.......the lead car gets pushed and makes a move to split 2 lead packs so he won't run into them.....now we have 6 cars sid by side. If the lead car can't make the pass how will he tell the rear car "wait".

Daytona/Talladaga...........are throw-a-way races and don't prove anything except who is smart enough to dodge or avoid the carnage.

but do agree with the 40% factor...maybe even 50%. .

And i think its silly to have the teams be restricted by the cooling system.......lame IMO

Dude...Nascar did nothing to encourage or promote the 2 car draft. This is racing innovation at it's finest. The cars have been engineered to do this because it the FASTEST way around the track. No one in the garage gets paid to give the fans a good show. They get paid to win. Nascar is NOT happy about this racing. It should be obvious to everyone.
