With the new NBC deal with Nascar ESPN will have a lot of time slots to fill. ESPN will loose the NASCAR, Nationwide and Truck Series races along with qualifying, practice and other Live events. Looks like a perfect time to pitch ESPN or TNT with Super Stadium Truck series. Hopefully a network can see the excitement building with this series. I know as a fan of RG, I have enjoyed the watching the series, but hate the tape delay and shortened episodes. Be great to have watched the Toronto races LIVE on TV.
RG could really give them a bargain compared to NASCAR.

Just ordered 1 case of Ethanol and Fuel by the way...with hopes of funding RG back into a few Cup races.

Long term - this is a power play by NBC to get NBCSN on the first tier of channels. I remember when Speed first came out, it was literally like channel 317 on cable in my area and part of the "sports" tier that you had to buy. Now it's part of the primary tier and on channel 75.

ESPN hasn't had the Truck Series races for more then a decade now, they're losing Cup & NNS. Those timeslots are already filled with various other sports hence why ESPN (ABC) didn't try to outbid NBC for the NASCAR rights. Also the Toronto races could've been just as live on NBC beings that NBC was the production crew in town for the Indycar race not ESPN.

Though in some other somewhat Robby related news, the contract that NBC has with the ASO to cover the Tour de France through the 2023 event also includes NBC having exclusive US broadcast rights for other ASO properties such as Dakar. So basically Dakar will be on NBC through the 2023 running.

First off......production quaility, racing to commercials ratio, and personalities are the big three in my book. Capturing the true sounds of the cars (not that wizzing shit) is always a nice touch. Technicle non-clowny presentation of facts..."Who is going to transfer" from the booth.....ETC ETC ETc.........I just want to see racing. I listen to radio coverage for audio even though the sounds of the cars suffer. Here's a little salt so it is dry enough and to the point::..:: The financial numbers I see with this deal and the languishing crowds and supposed failing off in interest in "CUP RACING" tells me this is going to be a commercial driven animal. My favorite being the return from a commercial with a view of cars flying by on a camera that seems to be sitting right on top of the wall with an announcment "___________ continues to lead here at ____________ with ___________laps to go" and 13 seconds of that and POOF you are back in a commercial break. Who ever brokered the deal got a new shiny car (they could hardly drive between the lines) and a fat cigar to help signify and salute the inner workings of "whats in it for me" with every move on the chessboard........okay. I'm getting bitter here and feel my cheese sliding off my cracker...back to the salt. I think the coverage on NBC will be lame "what the frigg "I just want to see racing" type coverage. For myself I've spent more than a few afternoons with a fishing rod in my hand and the old transistor by my side pulling MRN out the trees without a hitch............boogity boogity boogity ....lets go fishin BOYS ...won't miss much with NBC in my opinion as the future marches in right on top of our heads.

zoom - yeah I agree. Live TV is great and hopefully the series will get to that in the future. As for cup, only way RG would ever do a cup race would be in someone's top equipment, not his own.

I am grateful that the Toronto races will be on the NBC Sports Network on August 10th. That's a much better date than not being on it at all :)

From a fan standpoint, it appears the SST is very exciting and cool for those in attendance. The race done along side Indy races seem to be a huge hit. Would love to see RG have an SST event at a Cup track on race weekend. I think fans would love it. It seems a lot of drivers have expressed interest, David Stremme even tweeted "I'd love to drive one (an SST)"
the current SST points leader stated he'd love to see the SST schedule be 50/50, with 50% stadiums and 50% with Indy weekends. I'm surprised more drivers haven't attempted it. It seems the ones that have can't keep smiling and applauding how fun it is. It's very fun to watch, but can only imagine how cool it would be with 20 trucks instead 8 or so racing.
As for NASCAR & RG...have to hope RG makes a return, even it's just a one race or limited schedule. Would think SPEED Energy has to be picking up sales. I'm not aware of any stores carrying it in Alabama. Would think RG could work a deal to attempt the "Double" again. With RG's connections with Penske and Ganassi...would think a Speed Energy Indy and Cup car to attempt the double would be really cool.
I agree TOG, glad the SST race will be on TV...but hope RG works a TV deal to be LIVE. I'm sure they're learning a lot each race on what to do in the future. Look how far SPEED Energy has come along since the introduction at Talladega a few years back.
By the way, my case of Ethanol just arrived at the door...

Keep your optimism up, Bigzoom. Don't let these dirt guys bully you. There are lots of different types of Robby fans and this is the only place we can get most Robby information. There is no reason we need to start breaking off into camps. I don't understand why some fans on this site get so defensive and aggressive if you mention any other form of racing other than off road. Mentioning Cup does not endanger or negate Robby's off road racing.

You hit it right on the head!!!! I love NASCAR, Off Road, Sprint Cars, you name it! I miss RG in NASCAR. I'm an underdog person so watching him win in the SST is not something I'm used to....

I do as well. I've been a NASCAR fan since I was a child and have been following Robby in Cup since '01. I can't just shut it off and forget about it. I was an Earnhardt Sr fan and became a Robby fan after his death. I'm having a hard time finding another replacement. I'm following Robby into his other ventures, but don't tell me to forget about or give up hope for NASCAR. I'm not asking for a full schedule, but the two road courses a year would do me just fine.

Would be nice to see on TV even if ESPN. And on a sad note, new web blocking software at work blocks The Planet.
