Sources say Ask.com could come aboard the fourth [Richard Childress Racing #07 Chevy] car for a partial schedule, but [Casey] Mears could just as easily lose the ride to Paul Menard, who can bring a full sponsorship. Doug Randolph [the new #07 crew chief], coincidentally, was Menard's crew chief at Dale Earnhardt Inc. And hearing John Menard is pushing for his son to drive for RCR in 2010, but Paul [#98 Menards Ford] wants to remain in his current situation.(FoxSports)(10-24-2009)

I have the say I find it interesting that John and Paul aren't on the same page here. For me, I think Paul should listen to John a little bit. He's going into a bad situation with the RPM group.

Menard should go to RCR. It's the best, and most logical choice at this time.
Menard can only go to RCR if they want him there. I don't know much about how the team runs, but it doesn't strike me as a team that'll sell a seat to anyone who can pay.
Really? Isn't that pretty much what they did when General Mills wanted Clint Bowyer? True, Clint was already an RCR driver at the time, but the sponsor didn't want Mears, so used thier money to get who they wanted.

Maybe Childress would rather not run a fourth car, but I find it hard to beleive they would turn down a full time sponsor willing to give them the money.
Unless it hurts their chance to attrach top-tier sponsors. I think it has the effect of tarnishing the reputation of the team by selling a seat to a driver who didn't earn it based on skill or potential alone. While Menard is a good guy and a competent racer, he hasn't shown anything that could suggest that top tier talent exists. Allowing him to use family money to buy a ride sends the wrong impression of the team and raises questions about it's on-going stability.

This becomes a pure business decision and has nothing to do with winning races or running up front. Kills the spirit of racing, something I think it a key part of RCR.
Everyone has their price.
Maybe TOG should establish an "Official Menard and Robby Team UP" Forum thread to satisfy the speculations of the few that can't accept the facts that it ain't gonna happen. There have been plenty of opportunities for it to happen and they went away.

MAYBE it's just possible that the Gordons and the Menards like their relationship just as it is.
