Bobby Labonte to Drive for Robby Gordon Motorsports at Loudon

Former Champ to Pilot No. 7 Toyota at NHMS

Charlotte, NC (June 23, 2010) – Robby Gordon Motorsports will put 2000 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Bobby Labonte behind the wheel of the No. 7 Toyota at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 this weekend in a current one-race deal.

“When we found out that Bobby was available to drive for us, we jumped at it,” said team owner Robby Gordon. “To have a past champion driving your car is a good opportunity. I think we can learn from him this weekend and it will help our program moving forward.”

Robby Gordon Motorsports finished second in last weekend’s race at the Infineon Raceway.

“I can’t thank Robby and his folks enough for this opportunity,” said Labonte. “We’re going to New Hampshire with the goal of having another solid run for his team. They had a great finish at Sonoma and have some momentum right now. I’m just thankful for the opportunity and hope to get another solid finish for his team.”

Labonte will be making his first start for Robby Gordon Motorsports and plans on running the full race this Sunday.

My mistake on stating TRD, meant to say MWR.
Robby did run a TRD motors early in 2009. He kept having issues hence the move to Triad. I highly doubt he would go back to TRD.
You can bolt a friggin rocket to the car, and if you get on the throttle coming out of the corner later than your competitors, you'll be behind going down the straights - every time.

It's not the motors, but their chassis setups (or chassis construction) that could use help. That being said, I'm sure the big teams make slightly more hp that RG does. Their biggest advantage is being able to put that power to the ground quickly.
I am so tired of hearing negative comments about Triad engines...
It's not so much negative, I mean, there's no question about their muscle in the truck series. Is the big breakthrough ever going to happen in cup? Yeah, it'd be cool if it was Robby that puts them on the cup map, but I don't know. Once those motors win all the way around(in cup): road course, small/large ovals, then I'll be a believer.
Yup, you should have just left your post simply with your statement "I don't know," because it's clear you don't.
Ok genius, where's all the Triad Sprint Cup success? Why is it only teams in the back half of the points with their power? Toyota has been in cup now for how many seasons, and how many wins, top 5's and 10's do non-Triad powered cars have?
Okay...I'll ask...noticed you just changed the Speedfactory logo from black background to white...? New Speedfactory.TV paint scheme?

Just taking the bait....
you must have gotten a bad supply of LSD, because nothing has changed...lol...You are hallucinating.
I think there will be more prize money with a Past Champion in the car too. Not sure how much, but that does factor into the payout Matrix. Maybe not.. I just checked: http://www.nascar.com/2002/kyn/nascar_101/02/02/Money/index.html nothing about past champion
Ok TOG I'm fairly new here, This may be dumb to others, but how do you know these things before all the rest. Do you work for RGM?
