Another PR Nightmare For A Nascar Driver - His Sponsors Can't Be Happy Right Now

From Jayski - For the second time in a week a NASCAR driver is in trouble with the law. A.J. Allmendinger, driver of the #44 car, was arrested for drunk driving, Mooresville police say. Allmendinger was pulled over around 1:30 a.m. Thursday along Highway 150. According to police, Allmendinger blew a .08, which is the legal limit in North Carolina. Last week Mooresville police say alcohol was a factor in an accident involving NASCAR driver and team owner Michael Waltrip. Officers investigating the accident suspected Waltrip was drinking, but when he was given a field sobriety test, he registered a .06. In North Carolina the legal limit is .08

I figured Scott Wimmer's incident back in 2004 would have set the precedent for these drivers and their after hours activities.

So if he was @ .08, technicly he wasn't over the limit...he was @ the limit.
How does that work, did he not pass the field sobriety tests?
Were the officers paid off by Waltrip, to take the heat off him?

?????? not even close. An average male (160lbs) if they have one drink in one hour their BAC will be at .007..NOT even close to .08. In one hour to get to .08 you would need 4-5 drinks

Now remember you will metabolize alcohol at .015 an hr as well....

So if AJ was out drinking for say 4-5 hrs then drove home and blew a .08, he probably had at least 6-7 drinks (assuming he is about 140lbs).

Anyone whoever blows at or voer the limit and say they had only one or 2 beers is FOS....or a 100lb woman...lol

bullshit.........if you have 6 or 7 drinks in four hours you are a dangerous weapon on the road 100lb. woman or not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

are you kidding me? 7 drinks in 4 hours.... LOL that is nothing.. but a good time.. 1.75 drinks per hour... The actual scary part is go buy one of those breathalizer kits at the store... Its scary how you feel at .08 - you feel practically normal...a mellow buzz but nothing crazy.

LOL..Dude, its science..those BAC tables are generally pretty accurate...

Now there are factors per individual (how recent you have eaten, etc plus not everyone processes/handles alcohol the same way), but those benchmarks listed are fairly close.

And I agree with you Kevin, if I were to have 6-7 drinks over 3-4 hrs I should not be on the road..but if I were, I can gurantee you I am under .08 and legal....

Hence why there shouldnt eb any tolerance whatsoever for those that blow that high...it takes more than just one or two to get there....
