I just learned that AJ Wallmendinger and Joey Lagono are 1 and 2 in the fan vote. AJ is winning and Joey isn't far behind.

And Joey has?
no but Joey still has time to grow. AJ as been here for 3 years and he hasnt done anything.
He got the Red Bull car from a start up operation to locked into the top 35....and he did that during his first stab at Stock Car racing. And in 55 starts together, AJ has finished ahead of RG 34 times, with more top fives, more top tens and a better average finish as well....

I seem to remember Robby Gordon fans gooing themselves over a driver taking a startup and getting in locked in after a year and a half....

Its awesome to think that the kid is 27 years old, has been racing stock cars only three years and is apparently DONE!
This place completely baffles me sometimes....honestly...just..wow.
I guess you dont remember Red Bull sitting him in 2007 and 2008 for poor performance...

AJ is a decent driver, my point was I do not get why everyone in Nascar land is so high on him and against Joey Lagano. How many Busch wins does AJ have?

I will take AJ in an open wheel comparison though, hands down.
Where have I said I'm against Logano? He'll do fine.

He was sat because management was smart enough to know that this was his first exposure to stock cars and paired him with someone that could help act as a barameter for team performence and improve his vocabulary. Thats what he stayed in the car and wasn't replaced by Mike Skinner. But hey, do whatever revisionist history you need to man....

And really? You're measuring Busch success? All whopping eight starts that AJ has? Did Robby get any wins in his first eight starts? Or even in his first 20 starts in the series? Man, if AJA sucks using that measure, then what is Robby?!?!?!

AJA has proven to be no slouch in his brief exposure to Sports Cars also....
First off, AJ got pulled out of his ride, regardless of the reason. Skinner raced a number of races with RBR. It happened, no revision of any history there. I can go on for hours about what has or has not happened at RBR; I have friends I went to school with working there.

You bring up Robby Gordon in reference to a comparison of Joey Lagano to AJ Almendinger? Really? Why? Is Robby Gordon some sort of meter stick to measure success in Nascar? Im pretty sure Joey won in less than 8 starts, albiet with a great team. Hey, your the guy that brought up eight races. I am merely pointing out it is ridiculous the masses that watch Nascar are so quick to throw Joey under the bus, and claim AJ is amazing. It was not completely directed at you. I think your comment about driving the car into the top 35 needs to be tweeked, he did very little to help the team until he got his butt yanked out of the car. Is it really his first stab if its his second season, during which he was replaced for a number of races? If thats your definition, then hey, more power to you. I am not a fan of either driver, just to clarify.

So again, what success has AJ had in Nascar? That was my only question. To me, he is a great middle pack racer and nothing more right now. He might prove to be better in the future, but people are certainly building him up to be more than he is right now. Look at the points, he is sandwiched between his team mates Sorenson and Sadler.
at least Joey has got something to brag about....he won his first nationwide race on only his 3rd start.....
Dinger started the season with a top 10 at daytona( just like rg last season) and has husseled and worked very hard since being cut from red bull. Considering all the botched qualifying efforts last year, he still raced into the allstar last year. Plus Dinngers silly season efforts with GEM /and this seasons RPM are admirable and shows that he is getting more comfortable in a stock car. Thats all good for him but I still want RG to start kicking some ass!
