So yesterday I recorded Nascar classics on Speed and what do I find? The 2004 Checker Auto Parts 500. One of the most under rated races Robby ever drove in Nascar. This was his last season with Chldress. He ran top 5 top 10 all day and was running down Jeff Gordon for the lead when his engine blew. I remember that whole year was like that. He and Chris Andrews had something special with that team in that they were always lightening fast but something weird would happen to spoil a good finish. They lost brakes at Atlanta of all places running top 5 there, cut a tire with 10 laps to go at Darlington running top 5 there, lost an entire wheel at Infineon, lost 2nd and 3rd gear running 3rd at the Glen, running down Jeff Gordon at Indy for the Brickyard and had a flat tire and so on. Just rotten luck that year. He even almost flipped a car at Rockingham running 10th.However, It was a shame Robby left that team because they had something special. But anyway it was nice to watch a race where Robby actually had a shot at victory.
