PLANET COLOR® TO ‘ORBIT’ THE TRACK AT NEXT NASCAR RACE,

THE SHARPIE 500 ON AUGUST 23

Custom Color System To Illuminate Robby Gordon’s No. 7 Dodge

Under the Lights At Bristol

Warrensville Heights, OH – There will be a new look under the lights at this Saturday’s (August 23rd, 2008) NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at the Bristol Motor Speedway on Robby Gordon’s No. 7 car – his Dodge will feature the logo and shimmering brilliant look of Planet Color® the custom color paint system from Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Corp. (SWAFC).

Gordon, a three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race winner, has used the brand’s coatings for years. Now, for this race, his car will host the gleaming Planet Color orange logo and be joined by that of Barrett-Jackson (the leading specialist in providing products and services to classic and collector car owners and automotive enthusiasts around the world), along with the team’s No. 7. As a result, their trademark brands will all be featured against the completely flat-black Charger’s color scheme as it circles the short Tennessee oval in front of more than 160,000 ardent race fans.

Planet Color has been a tremendous hit among custom automotive enthusiasts, painters and shop owners alike for several years now. Made from a series of optimally enhanced coatings containing special combinations of highly reflective additives, Planet Color offers stunning, radical, multi-dimensional finishes that are color shifting, iridescent, illuminated and shimmering in their texture.

“We appreciate the opportunity to be featured on the car of a champion like Robby Gordon with this special one-time ‘unveiling’ of Planet Color at a popular venue like the Bristol Speedway,” said David Kidd, SWAFC OEM Business Development Manager/Planet Color. “It’s a great chance to show over 100,000 fans in the stands, and millions more at home, that Planet Color finishes offer unparalleled durability and limitless color possibilities, and its two- and three-coat applications boast results limited only by the imagination.”

With Planet Color, custom painters can mix as little, or as much paint, for their exact customization project needs, and because of its refined repeatability it guarantees an exact match every time.

Planet Color's complete automotive paint system is easy to apply because the optically enhanced additives are used in conjunction with the entire Planet Color program for a perfect finish. The result is when these coatings are sprayed, their additives create a reflective, scattered effect offering vibrant color and clarity

WooHoo! Cash Money for Robby!!!
Welcome Plaent Color!!!! Let's hope we have a good weekend and they come back for more!!!!
Lets bombard Sherwin Williams with emails letting them know how much we appreciate it and also letting them know how perfect of a fit it would be to sponsor this website. Planet Robby sponsored by Planet Color. Any help from outside companies really helps with the costs involved and future development.

Anybody knows what that green circle in the upper right-hand corner of the windsheild is? I see it on all the cars. Is it the NASCAR transponder for timing and other statistics of the car while it's on the track?
I am fairly certain that is an inspection sticker. It signals that the car has been through inspection and "passed" so it can go on the track. The transponder for timing is attached to the frame rail of the car (and in the same location on each car).
Yes it is a transponder. Nascar is trying these out in the Nationwide and Truck series. I think it has to do with gps now.
