January 2nd-7th, the Rally Raid starts in Ha'il, Saudi Arabia and races South than West before racing to North to the city of Riyadh.

January 8th, Rest Day Riyadh

January 9th-14th, the Rally Raid continues from Riyadh through the Southern area of Saudi Arabia before heading to West, than West, finishing in Jeddah.

Sanders brings it home!
Daniel Sanders dominated stage 1B from A to Z to claim his second career Dakar stage win, also the second in a row, as well as padding his overall lead. The Australian is 2'07' clear of Pablo Quintanilla and over 8'30' ahead of Matthias Walkner.

LW Proto: Quintero far from alone
COVID-19 left the Red Bull clan scrambling to replace Mitch Guthrie and Guillaume de Mevius's co-driver, Tom Colsoul, but the team still shone in stage 1A, with three cars in the top 4. Andreas Mikkelsen and Kellon Walch have proved to be super-subs. Smart money says Red Bull drivers will prevail again in stage 1B.

Stéphane Peterhansel was second on the road at km 120, right behind Nasser Al-Attiyah, when he smashed up his rear and was forced to screech to a halt to wait for his support crew at km 153. A major setback for 'Monsieur Dakar'.

15:54 Car: 'El Matador' lost!
Carlos Sainz, ranked in the top 10 until km 239, has lost his bearings near km 250. 'El Matador' has lost buckets of time, as his deficit at the last WP of the day is two hours and counting. After Stéphane Peterhansel's setback earlier today, the new hybrid Audi is having a torrid Dakar debut.
