Stage 5
Moto: Price in the lead at the finish
Before the race was interrupted, Toby Price proved to be the quickest rider to reach the finishing line on the day’s special. The Australian finished 4’14’’ ahead of rookie Danilo Petrucci who maintained his fine pace. Ross Branch put the leading Yamaha in the race hierarchy in third position, just two seconds behind Petrucci.
Moto: Interruption to the bike and Dakar Classic races
Faced with great demand placed on the medical aircraft dedicated to the bike race and the Dakar Classic, the race management decided, shortly after midday, to stop the stage in both categories in order to ensure the safety of the competitors. The car race which is taking place in a different sector with independent aircraft resources, has not been affected. The results in the bike and Dakar Classic categories will be adapted to the situation in accordance with the enforceable rules. Several solutions are available to the race officials who are studying them in order to find the fairest for all, both the riders who have completed the bike special and the competitors who are still out on the tracks.

LW Proto: Quintero reaches the finish
Seth Quintero has reached the finishing line on the day’s special and, unless the unexpected happens, the American should be the day’s winner. It remains to be seen, once “Chaleco” López and Sebastian Eriksson have finished, whether the Swede who occupies second in the overall classification 20 minutes behind the Chilean, has gained any time or not.
