Good interview. I think Robby knew on stage 1 he brought a slingshot to a gunfight. His comments regarding the Hummer are on point. This year's Dakar was built for the Hummer. Maybe Yazeed and Robby can put something together.

What if 2020 is no narrow gravel roads again?

Why he chose the car he did does not make sense, borne out by the mediocre results
Nasser won in the Hilux with a naturally sspirated 5litre V8 RG needs something similar

Really, why has nobody ever thought of that before?!
RG has an interview that explains the discussion making process. Might even be in this thread.

The Toyota’s are smaller than a Hummer. Plus they are also 4wd. Now make the Gordini 4wd and you have best. Smaller, lighter and powerful. But then ASO will come up with new rule to stop Robby.

Try a Colorado with a 5 litre V8. I think you could get factory backing

V They would be running the same rules as the Toyota and the Ford Ranger, so RG would be running with some powerful friends

Sounds great, but getting US car companies involved seems to be a problem.

If he wants a chance to make a real impact he will have to do that. GM unlike Toyota needs to make a big noise about it's products. They do sell the Colorado overseas and for Ford, Mazda , VW etc the Hilux is the target. It'600,000 sales Globally ranks with the F150( I know Ford quotes 900,000 for the FSeries, but that includes all their Pickups and Trucks)

any other amazing racing business advice like buy low, sell high?!

The Dakar rule book contains a lot of fascinating information. Read it sometime.
