Yea i'm not sure about that Wheaton, i'm with you-If you think you fried your motor in Q's, you should be able to drop another motor in-No facts, just going by good ol' common F'en sense!! i know maybe that don't pertain to Nascar alway's but lot's o' money on the line!! tell em' you fried it, watch the video- Anyway's, old new's, 1 engine failure so far, pretty damn good! Hope RG jumps in and runs Pocono!
TOG is correct, A team has to show/prove there is reason to change, same goes for the transmission.Pushing water is not proof of damage,if it where I would've need'd to change the engine out 20+ times.
Thanks Mike, that almost seem's crazy to me in Big money racing like that, if ya overheated the motor and gotta get 4,5, or even 600 miles out it, should be able to do what ya need to stay out there, but i know-a big "Should", cool- well like them Grampa's say "don't go to bed, without learning something new everyday"- Check
Here's NA$CAR for you? Tony "Smoke" Stewart was in danger of going a lap down. So, NA$CAR throws a caution for debris. Turned out to be a water bottle. Now how would that happen? Anything to keep their marquis stars in the hunt.
270 minutes of possible practice time Scott used 10 min, Rob used 16. Question in my mind is if they used wind tunnel why didn't they unload, put cars on the track right away and get a baseline that they could adjust from instead of waiting 45 minutes to put both cars on the track?
The new crew chief could get things done with practice runs that is a fact, I mean that is a fairly large portion of where the guy earns his bread right? I don't know why the car spent such short time on track. I don't think I want to know. Once I know too much I'll need to know more or it won't be enough. And when that happens I will start to go into a metamorphosis in which perhaps I become caught between being a hardcore fan and some "dude" who thinks he knows it all. Well I don't and I like it that way, just enough to stay a fan who considers the tire bill or perhaps the risk of crashing out one or both of the cars that were brought being the reason for lack of track time. Good enough for me for now....perhaps if the show car is having some issues I could take it for a blast down rt. 16 and give some feedback, at the Glen. I'll help anyway I can.
Just my observation: RGM being locked in allowed them to run a few laps and see where they stood (baseline), perhaps make an adjustment and run another lap or two. Save the expense of tires, and other costs during practice. The motor blowing is the first all year, it happens to every team at some point. If this was the 3rd or 8th engine blowing up I'd understand an outcry of the fans, but it was the first. Timing sucked, would have been great to hold together for a little while longer after all the S&P teams called it a day, but it didn't...that's racing. The 71 team did what they had to do to get back inside the Top 35. The took a fuel gamble and it paid off (17 point swing, putting them 10 points ahead at Pocono).
If Robby decides to race this weekend (at the track we all know he hates) expect a full dose of RGM. The car will be rock solid & so will the driver. If Robby drives Pocono he's going after getting back inside the Top 35, only reason he would drive. If Wimmer drives, possibly could be a Start & see type race. See what the 71 is doing and how the car is doing, then go for as many points as possible. Either way, Robby will be bringing a new car to Watkins Glen and will be looking for a WIN. Robby can get in on speed at WG and if it rains he would start 35th anyway (have no idead why people think RGM would miss the race if it rains).
We should know soon what the Pocono plans are.
easy, man....lol...
IMO...Fan out cry began when the 7 or the 77 was a no show for practice and then the lack of laps. The blown motor was the breaking point. The part that pisses me off every week is the media not giving a shit about the drivers driving worse than 20thn out of sight out of mind. You made some good points though.
+100, gotta love the no it all's who have never taken a checkerd flag in there life! jus saying, PR-10,000 crew chiefs strong!! lol, just get a keyboard and have at it, were all guilty of it from time to time, but the talking down & sh*t talking just get's silly sometime's, WE All make it- or break it!!! end o' the day, we all wanna to see RG KICK ASS!!!!
You better watch it there DB , you're making too much sense .... LOL
You know what that is called in NASCAR's world? ......... Sunday.
