Joseph Frank Nemechek III (born September 26, 1963 in Lakeland, Florida) is a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver and owner of NEMCO Motorsports. He won the 1992 Busch Series championship. He currently is bringing his NEMCO team back to run the Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series in the #87 Chevy for 2009. The older brother of the late John Nemechek, he is nicknamed "Front Row Joe" for his tendency to qualify near the front of the field, a term deemed by former teammate Wally Dallenbach.

I don't think he'll even pretend to, really. Even his sponsor knows it's only for qualifying. From Jayski:

Foxsports doesn't show Dave Blaney turning a lap in the 1st practice. Is he still attempting to get in? Won't he need to get a lap in practice 2 to be able to attempt at qualifying?

Well Dave Blaney is in practice 2, 5th fastest so far

I think Gilly will prove what some of us already believe... Robby's short track cars are just not very good.
Still in the 30's in HH.

For all the time and efforts put forth for only two road courses, one wonders why you don't see something to improve the short tack program. They out number the road courses. Oh well, carry on.

I would not be surprised if David is being cautious during practice so he does not damage the car. Probably has instructions to just practice the car, qualify and race the car bringing it home with no damage. Also remember David is currently with out a ride for next year.

RG thinks/knows he can win a roady, but bustin A on 1 mile tracks may only get you a top 15.

Driving hard in is ok in a busch race, less hp.
