Doug,

I go to most of the California races and I prefer turn 4. Alot of the action is coming out of turn 4. Ticket prices have a wide range, but the last couple years the stands are about half full. So we end up buying cheap seats and then just moving up during the race. You can buy pit passes and go on pit road before the race but not in the garage. They won't let you bring in much food and drinks. They make you buy it inside...... Hope it helps. Maybe i'll see you there. I'll be in my Robby gear in Turn 4...LOL
If you go to the tracks web site there is a list of what you can bring. Last year me an the wife swaped out Ice T in a brisk bottle with Jim the color is the same. I like to travel light but my wife likes to pack lunch that way we can picnic where ever we end up...after I carry it around all day. I perfer the finish line cause you can see the monitor and bolth turns 1/4 evenly. It seems like every year I pick the wrong turn "for action" and Robs pit selection. So I cut my loses and sit in the middle. Tix online or at the gate race day act fast for the cheep seats but know you will not be able to see the back strech. If you got the money and dont mind the hike to you seats or restroom spend the extra money. But I find that with dwindeling crowds its easy to hop around and I hardly spend any time in my "Assigned seats.
Section 52 row 23 has been my preference in the past. This is at the entrance to the pits, you have the sprint vision screen, turn 4 action and the front stretch. Lately it seems that most of the track incidents have been coming out of turn 2, no seats there, but you can see the action from sprint vision screen.
My luck lately Robby seems to pit in front of the scoring pylon which means you can't really see what is going on in his pits from my section.
Auto club always has all kinds of different pkgs to choose from call and ask them what specials they have. This year I will in section 10. I also prefer green parking close to the pits, this way I can pack my cooler and go to my car for refreshments, there are also a lot of tailgaters. Good luck!
just buy the cheap seats and go to the top..eat before u enter and dont waste your money on pit passes.
pick seats where the sun won't set in your eyes.
Having sat in the east (towards Turn 1) and west (near Turn 4, entrance to pit road) sections, I have to say, I prefer the west sections. For starters, the sunsets behind you, so you don't get the glare. Plus, I sat in Section 70, Row 15 (Auto Club 500) and Row 18 (Labor Day Weekend race/October Chase race) and seeing the cars coming into to pit under green is awesome (more awesome than the cars leaving pit road IMHO). My tickets were $75 each, but you had a pretty good view of the entire track, plus you have a Sprint Vision screen right in front of you. As others have said, you can bring in food and drinks, but the drinks have to be in a plastic bottle and you are limited in size of the soft sided cooler you can bring in. I usually take 4 bottles of water (1 or 2 frozen...depending on the projected temperature) or 2 bottles of water and 2 bottles of Powerade/Gatorade along with snack type food in the soft sided cooler and a sandwich or two in my clear backpack. I wish I could say that I hope to see you at the track, but for the first time since the 2005 Labor Day Weekend race, I will not be attending an Auto Club Speedway race.
Just my 2cents...Like some on this board any seating leaning towards the T4 side of the track is good, the" action" is there come raceday! You have to do raceday (1) time to get the feel its a rush with all the people and hoopla!....... but after that I enjoy going on Friday watch qualifying ...go home and watch it on Sunday ..on my own schedule.
The race at Cali is a total joke, seriously. It's not fan-friendly & the racing is terrible!! Go to Phoenix or Vegas.
vegas--yup....first annual Planetrobby blackjack tournament..lol...I need a card counting team...LMAO
hmm..not sure where I agreed with the cali is a joke comment, I was just giving props and agreeing to the Vegas race . But while we are on the subject, yes, Dover is much better , but that was back when it was asphalt and bias ply tires..ah,nevermind...i see you were replying to Jeff.....
I felt that way when i saw a hockey game in person for the first time. night and day difference from TV..you see so much developing in person.
