Parker, Ariz. (February 5, 2013) – For the second year in a row, Robby Gordon dominated the Parker 425. This was the first appearance of the No.77 SPEED Energy / Toyo Tires Trophy Truck since the 2012 San Felipe 250.

The SPEED Energy / Toyo Tires Trophy Truck was quick from the start of qualifying on Thursday to the conclusion of the 425-mile lap race on Saturday. Gordon qualified second behind pole winner Rob MacCachren, which resulted in him starting the race one minute behind MacCachren. With an impressive start, Gordon caught and passed MacCachren within 20 minutes. Gordon talked to his crew about transmission heating issues after pushing the truck hard for the first 18 miles. MacCachren stayed within 10 seconds of Gordon for a few miles until Gordon eventually ran away from him. Gordon would then battle with Jason Voss, the fourth place starter, for the lead; Voss would stay within a few minutes of Gordon on corrected time until the second lap. At that point,Gordon’s crew made an incredible pit stop at mid-way. The SPEED Energy crew changed two tires and filled the No.77 SPEED Energy / Toyo Tires Trophy Truck with fuel in just 57 seconds. When the two drivers reached Lap 3, Gordon had pulled ahead of Voss by nearly 6 minutes and 32 seconds physically but only 4 minutes and 32 seconds on corrected time. Gordon would maintain that lead for the final lap, carefully passing slower vehicles on the course. He was the first Trophy Truck to cross the finish line, resulting in a memorable and flawless race for Gordon and navigator Charlie Holbrook.

"The No. 77 SPEED Energy / Toyo Tires Trophy Truck was the fastest it has been in a long time here at Parker. We ran extremely hard to catch Rob MacCachren on the first lap. There was no dust as the sun had not even come up yet entirely when we caught him. From there, it was smooth sailing. I saved most of my stuff for the final lap. The guys had an incredible pit stop, and we brought it home from there. I really would like to thank Toyo Tires. They are by far the best tires in off-road today. We have run an entire year without a flat. Running 14 Stages of the Dakar Rally and then coming here with a flawless run and zero flats is something to be proud of. I look forward to running my truck again at the Baja 500 where we'll be tough to beat. Thanks again to Toyo Tires, MAPEI, 4 Wheel Parts, Traxxas, Impact, Mastercraft, Magnaflow, Safety-Kleen, Lincoln Welders and everyone else on our off-road program for making it all possible to do what I love to do, which is off-road racing."

The SPEED Energy / Toyo Tires Team has made it through some of the toughest terrain in the United States and beyond without a flat in over a year of off-road competition. Gordon and Toyo Tires are extremely proud of finishing the San Felipe 250, Mint 400, Silver State 300, Baja 500, Vegas to Reno, Bluewater Desert Challenge, Baja 1000, Henderson 250, 14 Stages of the Dakar Rally and the 2013 Parker 425 all without a flat.

Next up for Gordon and the SPEED Energy Racing team is the 2013 King of the Hammers event in Johnson Valley, CA on Friday, February 8th. To keep track of Gordon’s progress throughout the race make sure to visit speedenergy.com and planetrobby.com, as he looks for redemption after having a motor issue early in last year’s race.

Fellow Racers, Fans and Supporters,

What happened during the Parker 425 this weekend is unfortunate and a huge disappointment for everyone involved with our Team, including Sponsors, Employees and Fans. Our racing program is not just a fun hobby - it is a business. I want everyone to understand that it's business and nothing personal against Casey Folks or anyone involved with BITD. We enjoy racing the series and feel Casey does a good job, and we're going to learn how difficult a job…

We enjoy racing the series and feel Casey does a good job, and we're going to learn how difficult a job it is for Casey and other promoters in the very near future with Stadium SUPER Trucks.

We have a serious issue in regards to what Casey has said we did and what the rules allow. First and foremost, we want to hear the alleged recording of the radio communication with the helicopter. The rules specifically say "No aircraft permitted for the purpose of race support." We used our aircraft to film within the bounds of the Section 8 rules, which I have listed below.

Here is what the rulebook says in section SEC8:

The rule book does not say what this BITD official posted:

In addition, we use a helicopter for the following reasons: SAFETY! SAFETY! SAFETY!

For most of the races, at some point we are the lead vehicle and I want them to protect innocent people, spectators, snow birds, motorcycle riders, atv's and quads playing in the desert that may not know there is a race going on, especially in Mexico, etc. Trophy trucks (Trick trucks, Class 1400) are the most sophisticated race vehicles in American Motorsports today. The rules are wide open with the class being Unlimited and it is inevitable that someday we're going to crash again and as fast as my trophy truck goes, it could cause serious damage and life threatening injuries. If the helicopter is there to service my team or other teams for medical attention it is making the sport safer.

Our helicopter has landed on multiple occasions to make sure that other competitors are okay when in distress. Last year for example, at Vegas to Reno with the Mastercraft trophy truck and this race our helicopter landed to assist a rolled over vehicle that was stuck in a ditch. Our helicopter did that not to help us win a race and not because we are somehow required to do so, but just because someone needed help immediately and our helicopter was there. I know the people in off-road racing, and I know that they would return the favor if we needed it. That is the way we operate.

Last but not least, we use the helicopter for video production.

Facts: Until we hear the recording that BITD alleges exists, according to our understanding of the rule book, we didn't do anything wrong. We will have to stand up for ourselves on this matter as I take great pride in this issue. This is our business and we support ourselves by winning.

We won this race.......and it's really a bummer that we have to defend the results.

Thanks for the continued support, see you at the next race.
-Robby Gordon
2013 PARKER “425”tag:www.planetrobby.com,2012-12-16:2181693:Topic:6224192012-12-16T22:22:54.671ZMTwomnhttp://www.planetrobby.com/profile/MTwomn

Any words of advise welcome.

You might think it is too early to start planning, the Dakar is still 20 days away. But for some of us in the outer neither lands, planning takes time.

I will be in Los Vegas for training classes 3-8 February. The Parker 425 is the 1-3. Get to pick and choose classes so don't have to be there on the 3rd. Thinking about flying in and renting a car in LV, drive down to Parker then return to sit in class for a few day.
